Every morning I’m awake from 4/5 with awful anxiety.stomach churning, feeling sick ,just wanting to hide away from the world anxiety.
I’ve a lot happening in my life ,but even on days that have nothing awful to fear I still wake up like this.
I’m not answering the phone
And desperately stressed at the thought of people coming to the house.
If you are taking anything ,does it work ,how long did it take to work.
I tried esciyalipran but couldn’t cope with the side effects on top of the anxiety

Try the book Dare.
No booze, very little caffeine.
Would doctor give you something to make you sleep for a few days?
Get exercise and sunlight.

Feelingwalkedover · 10/07/2019 05:46

Thanks

Beesneeze82 · 10/07/2019 05:53

Sertraline. I was similar to you waking every morning with a knot of dread. Once I was on the right dose I felt better within a week or so. I was on a too low a dose for about 6 or 7 weeks though.

I felt more anxious until the tablets had taken effect which was pretty rough. But then they worked well.

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad.

fantasmasgoria1 · 10/07/2019 05:54

I take a lot of medication for my mental illness. I have pregabalin for anxiety and it is OK. I can't control my anxiety with other methods and I have tried. Mindfulness is good for a lot of people. It depends though as to what you are anxious about.

Feelingwalkedover · 10/07/2019 05:55

Thankyou bee and beauty .
Dr said last time I went if there was anything medication wise I wanted to try...so I thought I’d ask on here if there was anything that works without awful side effects

I have had anxiety for years all be it I wouldn't say severe. I've always been able to manage it through exercise, talking, meditation and planning a lot.
My sister uses sertraline and the difference for her is unbelievable. She is honestly like a different person

ComeOnGordon · 10/07/2019 05:59

I know it’s not the exact same thing but I seemed to have hormonal anxiety (I’m in my mid 40’s) and black cohosh has changed my life completely. At one point I was doing breathing exercises in the car cause my head was spinning so much and after taking them a month it’s completely gone away

Feelingwalkedover · 10/07/2019 05:59

Thankyou Fanta and sneeze x
I was on escatralipan ,but only managed 4 days and mirtazapine I couldn’t wake up enough to drive my child to school ,so had to get a friend to.i didn’t / couldn’t get past 4 days on either tablets.the mirtazapine had me feeling stoned within 30 mins of taking..
I’ve 2 dc with autism ,I need my wits about me

Sorry you’re feeling that way op.
I heard an American podcast just yesterday which was talking about hemp oil a few drops taken before sleep (no thc - Holland and Barrett and others sell a range). This was news to me and I looked at reviews and descriptions on uk websites.

Looks as though advertising here doesn’t allow certain claims - us user reviews linked with use for anxiety are really interesting.

Cautious as I’m the last to recommend something with no or dubious benefit claims but it might be worth looking into ? I was left with the thought i would give it a go for a short time.

Have you asked your gp for a review of meds/counselling (i knownit can take forever to sort out but it can be extremely useful). If you work does your workplace offer counselling?

Hugs and hope it eases.

Feelingwalkedover · 10/07/2019 06:06

Thankyou Lanyon
Hemp oil ..not heard of that ..will have a look on line
I should go back to my doctor yes
Everyone is getting on with their life and I’m just stuck in this negative bubble

Another vote for sertraline although watch out at the beginning as it can be bumpy.

cricketmum84 · 10/07/2019 06:44

Propranolol works well for me when the anxiety is getting physical like that.

I've been on mirtazapine for the last 18 months although just started to wean off it as I'm not keen on the side effects. It's helped but I feel my mood is a lot lighter now.

CherryPlum · 10/07/2019 06:51

Fluoxetine, it works really well for me, has changed my life (after the initial side effects).

Meds affect people in different ways, it's a case of finding one that works for you.

Feelingwalkedover · 10/07/2019 08:12

I know plum ,your right ,but I’ve tried a few now and I just can’t cope with the side effects on top of the rest of my life

Feelingwalkedover · 10/07/2019 08:16

Thanks jog and cricket mum
I’ve not tried propranolol .i will look that one up.
I feel like my life has been taken over by anxiety.
My mum says it’s because I have to much to cope with ,and some very difficult decisions to make quite soon.
I’ve suffered my whole life thou ,but it is very bad at the moment, like my mum says while I am going through a difficult situation

I'm on venlafaxine. it literally saved my life

haverhill · 10/07/2019 08:23

I had similar symptoms to you and am naturally anxious anyway. Sertraline has been amazing for me, really transformative. BUT I felt awful for about 10 days when I first started. You have to accept that most meds of this kind have an unpleasant first (brief) stage.

sureitsgrand · 10/07/2019 08:26

Fluoxetine (prozac) I've tried everything but 20mg of this a day let's me live peacefully with no side effects

Feelingwalkedover · 10/07/2019 08:46

User ,hill ,grand
Thankyou
Thankyou everyone for taking the time to reply .i will look up venafalxine .i have plenty of suggestions for my doctor now x

HRT because I’m of menopausal age. Has changed my life.

Ellabella989 · 10/07/2019 08:49

For those of you who felt awful for a few weeks on sertraline, what side effects did you experience? I think I need to try meds for my anxiety but im terrified of side effects as I have extreme health anxiety. Thanks

Sunnysidegold · 10/07/2019 08:51

I took propranolol and sertraline when my anxiety was at its worst. My Dr also prescribed a tiny dose of quetiapine - it is an anti-psychotic but tiny doses can really improve anxiety.

It's a bit weird that the dr has kind of left the ball in your court. I'd be asking what medications he would recommend rather than have you come up with stuff you what to try.

I have been where you are and it is horrible. Have you any family or friends you can call for company? Keep posting here.

I had a mantra of "I am safe" that I repeated when I was so very anxious.

QueenBeee · 10/07/2019 09:02

My mum says it’s because I have to much to cope with ,and some very difficult decisions to make quite soon

I got it due to feeling trapped in a situation, not knowing how to fix it. Eventually your mind says Aaaaah, got to get out of this and the anxiety ramps up. It was partly due to not putting myself first in the past, societal expectations, and living with a difficult person.
