NCT classes?

Hey Mumsnet, in my local area we have the NHS ante natal classes which I will sign up to. No NCT classes in my area but I can drive 10 miles to another area where they are held. 3 NCT classes are £200. I thought they would introduce me to other new mums in my area but now I doubt it because of the distance. Is there much difference between nhs vs nct classes? Sign up to nct or not? Thanks!

You can meet other parents at baby groups, classes etc

The content of the NCT classes is nonsense.

Not worth it, especially if you aren't local.
A year later I still meet up with the 4 couples from NCT classes once a month or so, but the content of the classes was rubbish really and didn't help at all ...actually the only part I found helpful was the discussion on pain relief and what stages of labour to ask for pethidine in etc . But you can learn that at the nhs free ones!

What they should concentrate on is post natal classes!
