Any idea what this is on DP’s leg?

It just doesn’t seem to be healing, it’s been there for a while and then flared up recently. Doesn’t seem to be a boil and he is reluctant to see the pharmacist.

So DP spent the evening with Dr Google and is shitting himself. He will be ringing to doctors shortly for an appointment

Oh TheWitch, I'm sure it will be something totally harmless but it's always best to get checked. Dr Google is helpful in some ways but sometimes it can make you panic! Glad he's getting it seen. Let us know how he gets on.

TheWitchwithNoName · 10/07/2019 16:29

I’m actually glad he panicked as he never goes to the doctors. He’s been referred and if he hasn’t heard anything within 2 weeks we are to chase.

Hopefully he'll be seen quickly and you won't have to chase. There's nothing worse than waiting ages when you're anxious.

Mitebiteatnite · 18/07/2019 08:36

@TheWitchwithNoName how did you DH get on? Has he had an appt yet? Hoping for good news for you.

TheWitchwithNoName · 18/07/2019 13:07

Still waiting for an appointment. It’s been two weeks next Wednesday so he’ll chase then if we’ve still heard nothing. Flying on the 9th of August so a bit concerned about him being in the sun if not sorted by then! Total sunblock on Barry if he’s still attached.

OP, did you ever find out what this was?

Pic from google

@TheWitchwithNoName , my mum had something which looked like this and turned out to be a squamous cell carcinoma. Don’t worry they are easily dealt with but equally don’t squeeze it and get you hubby to the GP.

Snowflakecookie1989 · 27/12/2023 21:51

It looks similar to basal cell sarcoma as my husband had it. Please get to Dr ASAP.

Sonolanona · 27/12/2023 21:59

It looks to me like a Keratoacanthoma.

I had one..absolutely identical... yes it's related to SCC but is generally benign.
Mine came up on my face (!) and grew very rapidly. After pointless antibiotics from GP I was fast tracked to the skin cancer clinic.
They took one look, and said yes it needs removing, and did it half an hour later to my relief.. they took a margin round to for biopsy and I did need stitches.

The are fast growing, ..mine was a cm across by the time I was seen (SCC grow more slowly) and eventually they sort of self combust if not removed, leaving a depressed scar, but that can take a good 6 months and docs remove them because they are sort of borderline for dodgy cells.
They often start due to minor skin damage which causes accelerated cell growth (in my case a kids nails in my face where I work ..Special School)

Tell your dh not to panic.. it will be removed most likely!
