Tell me you enjoyed school?

I was bullied at school and didn't have many friends so thinking about school for me brings back stress and anxiety. I'm particularly worried about DS starting school because of my awful experience.

I'm just after some reassurance to hear that some people actually enjoyed school to try and quash some fears.

I went to school in the 1970s and left early 1982.

Absolutely wonderful happy times.

I was never bullied.

My children, now adults didn’t have the same experience as times had changed but they were never bullied either.

We are all very confident and outgoing people.

Bullies might be looking for quieter and unconfident people to pick on as they know they can get away with it.

Your son might feel more confident if he did Judo as it teaches them to defend themselves etc

I loved school. I went to an all girl's secondary, in the 80s. I know some people think that girls can be really bitchy, but honestly it wasn't something I encountered. I think it helped that my social life was completely separate from my school life.

I also lived primary. Learning to read introduced so many new worlds.

I was quite a shy child, but I was never bullied.

I am sure your DS will be fine, and you will be there to step in with the school if needed.

I adored secondary school. Convent all girls, 80s , Ireland. Amazing grounds ( like a private school) amazing well travelled caring no nonsense nuns. Lots if young make interesting teachers. Very creative. Lots and lots of us who came from council estates went to top unis and set college. It was a calm, restful, active place and I was so lucky. Lots of friends. Real help fir working class kids on how to go to third level.

Sorry...found primary school boring (in terms of content and difficulty) and secondary tedious (in terms of relationships). Didn't enjoy education until I went to uni.
That said, most of my pupils absolutely adore school and I'm trying hard to make their time at primary more exciting than mine had been.

I loved my first primary school but a new one was built much closer so I moved there, was bullied by a boy, hit every day Sad
Liked my first middle school but moved house, new school was ok. Absolutely loved High school, had brilliant friends good teachers, was sad to leave.
