Hypothyroidism

. Post pregnancy I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism this last upto 1 year and after taking medication this settled.

Now 2 years later I recently had a blood test done to test my thyroid levels due to visiting the gp regarding very light periods . I am definitely not pregnant but my periods have consistently become light in the last 1 year. My recent blood test shows my thyroid level is lower than what it should be. My doctor said we should re-test in 6 weeks time prior to starting life long medication.

I also recently noticed a lump approx 1cm on the right side of my neck, whilst at the doctors I mentioned this to the doctor, she checked my armpits, groin and neck. She said this is a lymph node and asked if I have had an virus/cold flu/ ear aches etc recently and I said no. She said to come back in 4 weeks time to see if is still there and no too much else .

Has anyone else experienced anything similar, I am slightly worried and trying not to divulge into the online world.

Many thanks

How old are you?

Don't panic but please look up the symptoms of thyroid cancer. It's often over looked in otherwise healthy young women but is most common in 30 something women who've had one child.

Hi Hmmmbop

Thanks for the response - I recently turned 28, yes I will certainly look into this.

Hi Taas, I know this is an old post but I'm experiencing an incredibly similar situation. I'm same age as you as well. I was wondering if you got any answers with regards to the light periods? I hope you are doing well.
