lego land next week - do we need qbots

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 08/07/2019 21:14

as it says, we're off to legoland next week - probably the tuesday

Just wondering if paying extra for qbots is worth it, because it pretty much doubles the price of tickets

appreciate any advice - not been before so no idea how busy it will be

and any top tips for must dos/things to avoid also appreciated

It depends if you make the most of your time there. If you can get there for 9.30 (at least) and stay until the park closes, you’ll be able to do quite a lot without qbots. There are several queue- free attractions such as Lego Reef, Miniland, Brickville, Star Wars miniland experience, rock climbing, Kai’s Spinners, Jay’s Lightning Drill, temple build, castaway camp, enchanted forest, splash safari and the model making studio. There are also shows. Do all these during the busiest times which are late morning and mid afternoon. Do the popular rides first thing, last thing and during lunchtime. You can tell which ones have the longest queues as they’re the ones you can get a Q-bot for. When the shows are on is also a good time to get onto nearby rides, when they are quieter.
Miniland opens 30 minutes before the main park so you can walk around and look in awe at the heaps of villages, towns and cities across the world in LEGO form.Arrive early to check out Miniland, and you won’t miss any valuable time in the park itself.
We found the Legoland app invaluable while we were in the park. It helped us to know which rides to avoid and which to make a beeline for when they were quiet. There are signs around the park with wait times, but this was far easier to use, with Legoland’s free Wifi.
The usual advice is to leave the wet rides until the end of the day so that you don’t have to walk around wet and cold. However, because everyone does this, that’s when the rides are usually busier. Consider taking spare clothing so you can go on them earlier and then get changed, use one of the family drier cubicles (costs £2), or bring waterproofs. You may be at risk of being unexpectedly squirted or sprayed on the Heartlake City Express train and at the live harbour shows – depending where you sit.

Download the app.

Look at it this week throughout the day and see what queue times are like.

Base your decision on thar.

I’m going tomorrow and won’t be bothering, but we have annual passes so not worried if we don’t go on everything

Definitely take spare clothes. Some rides are designed to get you soaked. Worst is pirate falls. I wore jeans and even after two sessions in the dryer was still wet.

Raft racers also gets wet as water comes in the boat on the corners

I wouldn't bother with Q Bot. When you go next week the local schools are still on so it won't be as busy.

Get there for when it opens and go on the ninjago ride first as that's prob the longest queue later on! Also do the dragon rollercoaster and laser raider ride early and the log drop. They are always the longest queues!

If you have kids wanting to do driving licence thing, do that at lunch time and eat your lunch in the queue!

The rapids and swinging pirate ship queues look long but they move fast generally.

The main water park bit does get busy but id prob leave that towards the end of the day and do the other rides first. Mini land is cool with the models but you can wander around that if you get there early or before you leave!

Hope that helps!

Oh and definitely download the app as it does update queue times so you can plan your next ride!

thanks, didn't know about the app so have downloaded it

Weirdly laser raiders has had longer queue than ninjago lately.
