Tumble Dryer recommendations please

I have just discovered that my tumble dryer is one of the ones that is condemned by Whirlpool as one of their faulty and could catch fire ones. Their recommendation is that it is unplugged and not used.

As mine carries the Indesit branding I had no idea that mine was potentially dangerous. ( If you want to check yours, you can do so here safety.hotpoint.eu/country.jsp?lang=en)

I need a tumble dryer - even the modified ones have been known to catch fire so I have zero faith in ever using mine again and it'll go to recycling.

The way Whirlpool have handled this appals me and I will not be buying any more of their products which knocks out Hotpoint and Indesit.

Anyone any recent experience with new Candy or Hoover branded machines? I'm having trouble justifying the price of Bosch, Miele or AEG for a basic tumble dryer. I don't need anything terribly fancy.

Have you got gas? We’ve got a gas drier now on the back of the drier fire issues - after trying to get ours sorted I’ll never trust or buy hotpoint and the advantages of the gas dryer are multiple; it drys quicker, is cheaper to run and just feels safer!

We replaced ours with a basic White Knight dryer. I ordered it directly from them and have been very happy with it.

Our gas one is white knight.
The service so far has been great; even when I rang asking if there was a second filter because my electric ones have always had two... apparently not on these ones!
Blush I had read the instructions too!

I'd completely forgotten about White Knight! UK made too.

It'll have to be electric as the gas supply doesn't reach that part of the house but I see they do electric as well Smile

Thank you all!
