DD picked them for me from BILs garden and I'd love to know what they are! They're so pretty.

They look like agapanthus

MrsBertBibby · 07/07/2019 22:55

Did DD have permission?! I would go bananas if someone picked my agapanthus!

Is it this?

No those are not alliums

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/07/2019 23:21

@MrsBertBibby Yes don't worry, BIL doesn't care. He only just bought the house and if MIL would let him, he'd rip everything out and chop everything down to make way for his lake enormous fish pond Hmm

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, will check them out in the morning and see if they match anything suggested here!

They look like aliums to me. Are they on very tall thin stems? They come in white and purple shade. (Ornamental onion flowers) you buy them as bulbs.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/07/2019 23:26

I don't know @GlamGiraffe, I wasn't there when DD picked them and she picked them so close to the heads that they are just managing to perch in a shot glass without falling out! From what tiny stems they are left with, they do look very thin.

They look like red, pink and white valerian to me. It seeds itself all over the garden once you have some, but is popular with butterflies.

Ohyesiam · 07/07/2019 23:48

Red valarian. It’s a wild flower that likes dry stone walls. It’s not the medicinal valarian that smells bad and is good for insomnia .

sackrifice · 08/07/2019 00:18

in a shot glass, then yes Valerian. Some ides of scale would have helped in the first place.

MrsBertBibby · 08/07/2019 06:01

Oh they're tiny!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 08/07/2019 11:34

Oh sorry Blush Yes they're really small, here they are in my hand and with a teaspoon, should give you some idea of size!

Valerian is dead easy, if he doesn't care you could just dig some up and out it in your garden.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 08/07/2019 13:11

I've been round to his house today and taken photos of the plants, there are loads!

Oh, I apparently only photographed the white one Confused
