If so what do you eat in a day?

I ask as I’ve got around 15kg to lose to get back to what my “target” weight should be.

Ps: this is not a thread about peddling diets, disordered eating etc, I’m just interested.

OP posts:
EdWinchester · 07/07/2019 18:23

I'm a smidge over 5'7 and weigh 9st10.

I eat no breakfast and have lunch late, around 2. I try to leave at least 16 hours between dinner and eating the next day. Lunch is usually a soup from Pret or a salad.

Dinner is usually something like salmon and stir fry veg.

I avoid carbs apart from at the weekend. I drink too much wine - probably 4 nights a week, which is why I am 1/2 a stone heavier than I'd like.

Hmmmbop · 07/07/2019 18:26

I'm 5ft 7. Currently 11st 9 but losing rapidly baby weight). I'm on slimming world. A typical day looks like:

A fibre rich, whole grain cereal with milk for breakfast
Lunch is salad with protein, salmon or crustless quiche etc
Latte mid afternoon
Dinner is protein and veg, often with lentils or chickpeas.

I'm not worrying about portions, I eat until I'm full. If I'm gingery in the day I snack on fruit, fat free Greek yogurt or veg sticks and homemade dip. I have some chocolate most evenings.

I’m 5’5” and weigh 9.5 stone.
I have a cup of tea for breakfast then some thing like a bacon sandwich, eggs and toast or soup and roll for brunch at 10.30.
I then snack on whatever I fancy during the day before having a normal evening meal with DH and DC.
I drink a bit too much wine most weeks though and I eat an awful lot of bread or crackers and cheese/pate type stuff. Not ideal but I’m 46 and have stayed this weight and shape since having the DC so it works for me 😳

megletthesecond · 07/07/2019 18:32

I haven't eaten much today as I've been pottering around at home and it's warm. I also tend to eat small portions to keep my IBS in check.

Breakfast; Overnight oats with semi skimmed milk topped with banana and pecans. Chocolate biscuit and 2 cups of tea.

Lunch; Egg mayo sandwich, salt n vinegar pea crisps and 2 x home made chocolate chip chunky cookies.

Mini daim bar.

Tea; Salad with grated cheese in homemade pitta bread. Lots of butter and garlic.

Pudding will be big chunk of homemade chocolate, raspberry and cream cheese brownies.

My weight is static at 11st 10. I’m 5ft 6. I’m trying to lose weight but failing so don’t follow my example.

Mon-Wed I’m at work so have no breakfast just a large cuppa, 10.30 I’ll have fruit. Lunch is leftovers like pasta and tomato sauce with grated cheese and salad. Quite often I’ll take soup and have a yoghurt afterwards. I have a small bag of popcorn mid afternoon which is around 60 cals. For tea we have stuff like quorn bolognese, bean chilli, chicken curry. I’ll have 6-7 maltesers or minstrels afterwards.
Thurs-Fri I’m off alone. Yay! My dad always brings my two almond croissants as a treat so I have those for breakfast both days with tea and fresh orange. For lunch I have leftovers or something like fishfingers and oven chips and peas. For tea I make stuff like chicken tray bake with loads of veg. The weekend is where is goes wrong. Yesterday I had Special K for breakfast, today I had porridge. Lunch today was two pancakes with strawberries and Nutella. Yesterday I had half a pizza in a restaurant. On the evening I was at a party so just had some fruit and a large slice of homemade cheesecake for tea. Today I’m having a roast chicken dinner with celeriac dauphinois, roast veg, Yorkshire’s and mash.

No wonder I’m fat 😂

PrinceArchie · 07/07/2019 18:47

5ft 6, 8 stone

Herbal tea when I get up. Can’t eat early as running around.

Lunch around 11.30. Salad/tuna and cucumber/chicken salad/egg mayo sandwich. Bag of crisps, piece of fruit.

Chocolate bar mid afternoon

Standard dinner but quite small portions in comparison with other adults I’ve observed.

Supper is usually a cheese toastie or pate on ryvita.

I drink boiled water with lemon through the day.

Sometimes I eat loads more, sometimes less. I never turn food down as naughty or bad but do have a kind of running count in my head so wouldn’t overeat day after day after day. I usually balance a week out roughly.

I do about 15000 steps a day at work without trying and never watch tv so don’t have hours sedentary on the sofa (less time for snacking too).

shitpark · 07/07/2019 18:50

I'm 5FT 5, weigh around 9.5 to 10 stones and don't eat breakfast unless going for a long run (10 miles or more) and then eat porridge and a banana. I usually just have coffee, and a lot of water until around 4/5 pm when I eat tea with the kids, and then around 9pm I have another meal with more protein and veg. I don't do this to lose weight, but for the health benefits of intermittent fasting.
I'm 52.

PrinceArchie · 07/07/2019 18:51

More importantly than an exact diet though and honestly when people say how do you stay so thin, the only think I can point to is, I don’t eat unless I’m hungry. And I stop when I’m full.

I don’t eat just because it’s some arbitrary meal time, I eat when my body physically says it is hungry and I stop when it says full. I’ve always eaten like this. As kids we never had to finish a plate if we didn’t want to and I do the same with my kids. I do occasionally eat “for pleasure”, but I don’t seem to care that much about food as some people do, it isn’t a particular pleasure IYSWIM

edgen2019 · 07/07/2019 18:51

Am 5'5" and 10st 5lbs. I cut out bread, biscuits, cake, full fat anything, sweets etc., am teetotal, and this is my usual day:

B - yoghurt and fruit
L - salmon/chicken/tuna salad (not all at once!)
D - don't do dinner
Snacks: fruit, coffee, tea, almond milk, that's about it, quite boring really but it works for me.

StillMedusa · 07/07/2019 18:53

5 ft 6 or 7.. (168cm) and 9 stone 2-4.
Toast and boiled egg for breakfast
Packet of crisps/chipsticks at break
Salad for lunch (usually a little cheese or tuna with it) and mayo or a can of soup.
Jacket potato with a ton of cheese for dinner.
Glass of wine (more at weekends).
Sometimes a snack before bed but I cu that out when I started sneaking twaords 10 stone.

Not really anything in the way of cakes/chocolate as I just like cheese!

I'm 51 and have a moderately active job in school but don't exercise.

Adversecamber22 · 07/07/2019 19:06

I’m a very light drinker and can go months without chocolate and sweets. I do like cheese though.

Typical day at almost 5ft 5 and around 9st 8lb, I’m post menopausal until then I was an easy 9st.

Full fat Greek yogurt, granola and banana in a Chinese rice bowl, so just a little bowl.

Two slices grilled bacon, mushrooms, poached egg, beans.

I made a chilli yesterday lean beef mince plus, spinach, peppers, kidney beans and lots mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, tomato purée. Had with just a little rice and a couple of soft taco shells. Added creme fraiche and a little salsa and had a mixed leaf salad with avocado, raw onion, tomatoes.

Had lots of water, tea, decaf coffee and one Pimms with mixed berries and cucumber in.

I eat far less carbs to lose and maintain weight. I have never cut out an entire food group. From what I have witnessed people just eat portions that are way too big.

Mammalian · 07/07/2019 19:07

I'm 5ft5...
On my wedding day I was 8.5 stone but that took a hell of a lot of work (protein diet, working out 4 times a week).
A more comfortable weight for me is 9 to 9.5 stone. If I eat reasonably healthy during the week (porridge, fruit, sandwich/salad, whatever DH is cooking), I might have one takeaway a month, drink wine most weekends etc. I don't keep any junk food (crisps, biscuits etc) in the house, as I think I'd just eat them mindlessly if they're there. Instead, if we feel like a movie night or something, we'll buy just enough for that night.
If my weight starts creeping closer to 10 stone I generally feel a bit crap, bloated etc and know it's because I'm having too much cappunchinos, muffins, snacks I don't really need and will just pull back on them.
I think everyone has there own personal weight that they feel happy with. I was for about 2 years in my 20s, 11.5 stone, and lost it all through weight watchers, and kept it off just by being a bit more conscious of what I eat

Janleverton · 07/07/2019 19:09

9 stone 10/10 stone 1 and 5’6”

Would prefer to be 9 stone 7.

Don’t eat breakfast. Don’t always eat lunch - if at work sometimes don’t really have time. If I do, then will have some fruit like melon and some sushi or an m&s prawn layer salad or a sandwich. Evening meal will generally be rice with something - do a chicken curry, or stir fried beef or fajitas. Or chilli. Sometimes a roast.

Today i had a punnet of strawberries, a mozzarella, tomato and pesto panini and a paella for supper. I drink a lot of milk (lattes with skimmed milk). Yesterday I had a wrap with chicken and salad for lunch, a punnet of strawberries, some chocolate pralines and for supper some scrambled egg and bacon.

Dowser · 07/07/2019 19:11

No but I should do 😂
My aim for our October hols

rookiemere · 07/07/2019 19:11

I'm 5ft6 and currently 11st10 but have been doing WW online for the last couple of weeks and losing on it ( was 11st13) and didn't want to get to 12 stone.

For breakfast I have poached eggs on one slice of toast with smoked salmon. Seems luxurious- I love smoked salmon. For lunch we went out and I had seabass with roasted vegetables ( may have snuck in a few onion rings from DHs plate). In the afternoon I had a skinny Coffee Frappucino from Starbucks and for dinner I've just had poached salmon with grilled vegetables and mozzarella balls.

In the evening I will have fruit and maybe a highlights hot chocolate.

I'm losing on the above as I've cut out all the little mindless indulgences like a chocolate or two and for alcohol I'm trying to stick to vodka and slimline tonic rather than more calorific wine or Tescos salted caramel liqueur Blush.

Janleverton · 07/07/2019 19:14

I don’t drink really.

Leftielefterson · 07/07/2019 19:14

I’m 5”6 and 8 stone.

Typical day

B: Coffee with semi skimmed milk and stevia
L: Chicken salad/soup/toast/stir fry veggies with chicken (try and be low carb until dinner)
D: Low fat meatballs with courgetti spaghetti or real pasta/ stir fry/ homemade curry with low fat yoghurt and cauliflower rice or actual rice/ bolognese / toast sometimes / pitta pizza and veggies / low fat sausage and butter bean casserole / tagine / salad with grains

I tend to try and be as low carb as I can and also exercise 3-4 times a week.

managedmis · 07/07/2019 19:16

Yeah man I weigh ariu 9 stone 4 and am 5'5.

Typical day :

2 eggs, scrambled
Bowl Greek yog and low sugar apple compote
Coffee

Cheddar /cottage cheese and an apple ifr mid morning snack

Lunch will be massive bowl lentil and veg soup, some cheese /ham/tuna, or a jacket potato and chickpea salad with ham / tuna whatever.

Dinner is bbq, so either a steak and salad, or pork chop etc. Loads of casseroles in winter. Lots of baked squash, roasted veg etc.

Differences in diet from before (when I was 14 stone at 5'5)

Very little bread, pasta, rice, cereal, sugary crap.
No puddings, desserts, chocolate, cookies etc.

That the main difference.

Now it's all protein veg and good fat.

Lower carb changed my life!

MrsPear · 07/07/2019 19:19

5’ 6 And 10 Stone

Breakfast slice of whole meal toast with honey or jam or nothing if feeling queasy - don’t do mornings well.
Lunch usually those rectangle crackers -crisp breads? - with something like boiled egg or ham or soft cheese pickle or feta. Basically I pick from fridge as I do housework.
Dinner big and non weighed - anything and everything usually. From roasts to fajitas to curry’s to pasta with creamy sauces. Usually a slice of homemade cake for pudding.
Snacks crisps or fruit or those basic chocolate digestive type bar from Sainsbury’s.

I walk an average of 6 miles just doing the school run. Let alone everything else.

As you can see I basically eat light 2 out of 3 meals and heavy for one. Today I went to the real Greek for lunch - shared dips and bread with h, wrap for main and cheesecake for pudding - and dinner will probably be crisp bread things. I had 2 oat cakes for breakfast. I drink tea with splash of milk no sugar. Don’t do fizzy drinks as I bloat.

managedmis · 07/07/2019 19:20

Regarding exercise I have a sedentary job, but as soon as I'm home I don't sit down as I have two kids to run around after.

Weekends we go to the park etc, swimming.

I try and go cycling twice per week, for around 45 mins -1 hour, but that all depends on the kids, weather etc.

Figaro88 · 07/07/2019 19:21

5ft 3 and weigh 9st 6lbs, I was just over 12st a year ago changed pill and lost the weight without changing diet.

Breakfast: tea with full fat milk
Bagel thin with peanut butter and sliced apple.
Lunch: trukey sandwich on white bread with a packet of crisps, cherry tomatoes, red pepper, baby cucumber and hummus.
Dinner: seasoned chicken breast, baby corn, green beans, broccoli, sugar snap peas and spicy med veg cous cous.
Pudding: Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrant and vanilla ice cream scoop.

I will drink 1 litre of water, 1 litre of sugar free squash and about 15 cups of tea with full fat milk a day. I will drink an extra litre of water if it is not been out for a walk/bike ride etc.

Echobelly · 07/07/2019 19:25

I'm 5ft1 and 9 and a quarter stone - I eat muesli with about half to one serving of fruit for breakfast with semi-skimmed milk, an apple mid morning, a lunch that's usually salad or grains, and dinner likely to be something like pasta or fish in breadcrumbs, and sometimes a large piece of dark chocolate for desert. My portion sizes have crept up over the years, so that's one to watch. It's a reason something like fish/meat with a veg side is good as it's easier to manage portion sizes than pasta or risotto!

Hmmmbop · 07/07/2019 19:37

I suspect portion sizes are the key here though. Particularly for the slimmer ones.

WatchingDanEvans · 07/07/2019 19:54

5’6’’ & 7 3/4 stone

Today I had a bacon roll
Home cooked salmon fillet with new potatoes (probably 3) & rocket salad
1/2 a marathon
10ish pringles
1/2 bottle of wine

I’m a cleaner, today I worked 4 hours (most days 10) & I sweated buckets

This is my typical diet for a day.
Mostly fish , limited bread (today I took the top of the roll) , pasta probably once a month.
