I've always disliked my middle name. It's overly cutesy and has a 'unique' spelling. I'd like to change it by deed poll to something that I like better.
The problem - I'm in my thirties. Most of the time I've avoided using my middle name at all, so my qualifications and things like registration with the dentist or utility companies just have my first and last anyway. However, here are the places my middle name is used:
- non-UK passport (I checked, and if a name change isn't due to marriage they want evidence of 2 years' usage of the new name, so not an immediate concern)
- HMRC
- bank account
- mortgage (different bank to the above)
Has anyone else done this? Would it be a complete hassle to sort out, and cause problems if some things are still in the old name? Is it difficult to find sufficient evidence of the change for organisations that ask for more than just the deed poll? My bank wants 2 other pieces of evidence.
