DD off to Ayia Napa ... how do I not worry for the next 10 days?

She’s 18, I know she’s an adult, technically, but still quite immature. Drinks too much, doesn’t seem to have an off switch. Her mates are similar.

I’ve had the convos about drugs, booze, guys and I’m usually quite a laid back sort but I’m stressed about this.

Make sure she has proper medical insurance is probably the best thing you can do for her and just hope she doesn’t behave recklessly.

Yes you will worry but it’s most likely that she will come home after having had a jolly good time.

Condoms. Don't just discuss it, give her them or just put a load in her suitcase. Seriously.

sneakypinky · 07/07/2019 09:06

Yep, put an extra carrier bag in her suitcase with condoms, rehydration sachets, factor 50, first aid stuff etc. It's all you can do.

I went to Ibiza when I was a loose canon 18 year old. Puked on a dance floor, shagged a random, went to the all you can drink in an hour bars. My poor parents.

Proper, full travel insurance.
A policy that covers private hospitals and any sports.
EHIC card.

Don't be daft, how will you stop worrying? We all worried.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 07/07/2019 19:43

She has got good insurance, great idea about a pack with condoms etc.

Fuck it was so much easier when they were small!

I’ll join you if you like! I just sent DS(17) off on a tall ship from Aberdeen to Norway. Am worried about him falling overboard and also that he’ll lose his passport, phone or wallet and I’ll need to rescue him from Norway or Stockholm (he’s having a couple of nights on his own in Oslo then flying to Stockholm for two nights).

He’s back on 16 July so I will worry about your DD for you too if you give a little thought to my DS too? Grin Grin Grin

Thank you Wicked, that sounds an amazing trip.

my dd and her best friend have gone to south east asia, so worried, more worried when i saw her facebook update! new friends, lovely,
it would be easier not to know, luckily she has banned me from her instagram.

can only hope they are sensible and dont lose their heads, i am resisting the urge to text her reminding her this!

My little sisters (18) are just back from a week in Ayia Napa and all was fine bar a slight hiccup with accommodation. They were very ready to come home by about day 5 as they said it’s quite samey - it’s not a massive place so it’s the same bars, same booze, same people etc. I think they actually got a bit bored!
