So my children have;

ham wrap
yoghurt
cereal bar
apple
mini cheddars or crisps
water

This to me is entirely normal, however some folk seem to disagree.

Straw poll really as to what folk feed their DC for school lunch

OP posts:
NotYourHolidayDick · 06/07/2019 22:23

Cheese sandwich/wrap
Chicken tikka pieces
Crisps
Fruit (usually berries or a peach)
Cheesestring
Bottle of squash or carton of juice
Flapjack/cookie/cake

daffodiltalk · 06/07/2019 22:25

2 year old-

Ham sandwich
Slices of cheese
Banana malt loaf
Strawberries
Grapes
Blueberries
A few mini cheddars

Chloe9 · 06/07/2019 22:28

Jam sandwich or cheese spread
Cheese string or two
Mini cheddars or wotsits
Grapes or melon pieces (occasionally strawberries)
Chocolate or strawberry milk shake or apple juice or smoothie
A wedge of cucumber (if I remember)
Refillable water bottle

Chloe9 · 06/07/2019 22:30

Sometimes fridge raiders or a pepperami or a couple of mini sausage rolls or pork pies too.

Looked like a veggie lunch. My kids definitely aren't veggie.

FusionChefGeoff · 06/07/2019 22:45

Cream cheese or tuna wrap
Veg sticks
Cucumber
Tomatoes
Pack of crisps
Fruit
A biscuit / cereal bar
Cocktail sausages

She usually only eats 50% but it's a different 50% each time so we preserve with a big choice to try to make sure it balances out!!

notso · 06/07/2019 22:48

Sandwich/wrap/roll/pitta
Tuna/chicken/pastrami/ham/beef/pork/cheese/hummus/salami with cucumber or lettuce
Or
Pasta salad/couscous/rice salad usually with chicken/falafel/samosa
Or
Homemade pasty or sausage roll
Or
Crackers and cheese

Pot of chopped fruit/pot of chopped veg olives and gherkins

Cheese cubes/baby bel/yoghurt

Bear yo-yo/cheddars/1/2 a bag of crisps/Oreo/jelly/cake/Jaffa cake/gold bar

Luzina · 06/07/2019 22:49

Chicken wrap
Banana
Yog tube
Cucumber slices/small apple

If we put anything even vaguely treat-ish she eats the treat and ignores the fruit/cucumber. She's 8.

freshasthebrightbluesky · 06/07/2019 22:49

Cheese/tuna mayo/chicken curry mayo/salami & brown sauce/smoked cheese and salami sandwich

Fromage Frais yoghurt

Cereal bar

Apple

Tub of raisins

Dilute squash

This child has recently been diagnosed with add though and the medication for that has caused a loss of appetite so I'm a bit unsure about what to do!

Geraniumpink · 06/07/2019 22:56

On my last ever week of lunchbox making! Dd will have peanut butter or cheese sandwiches. Chunk of cucumber/cherry tomatoes, apple, mini malt loaf/cereal bar. Crisps or popcorn.

sadbones · 06/07/2019 22:57

..... mini sausages/scotch eggs/other mini items depending on what's in the fridge

Fanjango · 06/07/2019 22:59

@sadbones like your style, I confess it's very me 🤣

Stillstrawberrywater · 06/07/2019 23:00

A round of sandwiches, an apple, a satsuma, a yoghurt, and a packet crisps. Oh and a three bottles of fruit water.

notso · 06/07/2019 23:00

Lucky you GeraniumPink I hate making packed lunches. Don't know why but it's such a chore.

IggyAce · 06/07/2019 23:02

Chicken or cheese sandwich
Yoghurt or cheese string
Sliced cucumber
Fruit such as grapes, strawberries, blueberries or melon.
Once or twice a week instead of yoghurt or cheese string I will put a bag of mini biscuits.

AnnieOH1 · 06/07/2019 23:04

DS7 will have cream cheese and chicken or beef. Sometimes he'll just have cream cheese or occasionally egg. I try and limit ham to once per week at lunch time maybe twice depending on dinner plans. He'll also have half a cucumber, plus 2 or 3 vegetables and a piece of fruit e.g. in broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, sugarsnaps raw. Plus something like 2 babybels or a couple of cheddar sticks (cut from the block) and sometimes boiled eggs (hen or quail if I'm feeling whimsical!)

DD4 will usually have cream cheese with half a cucumber on the side. She's not fond of meat in sandwiches but will eat say the chicken pieces separate to a sandwich. She has similar to DS but will also have a handful of nuts and seeds. She will eat similar veggies to DS but prefers berries, grapes, melon. She's also fond of eating dry cereal like Shreddies or Cheerios.

Both will have things like hummus with breadsticks as a snack between meals.

Julykthat · 06/07/2019 23:05

In my dc school, which is not generally very strict, they are not allowed nuts, chocolate or crisps and only allowed water to drink. So my dc have a sandwich (ham, chicken or cheese) or couscous salad and a plain (rich tea) biscuit or plain rice cake or some cherry tomatoes or if I've something homemade and plain that might be allowed they take that. It is often only half eaten.

I object to this level of policing though because it sanctions processed food: sausage rolls, ham, salami over anything homemade which may have one of the forbidden sins in it but is overall more healthy. Can't do much about the nut ban though which limits nutritional snacks. Just as well it's only a 6 hour day

DeathMetalMum · 06/07/2019 23:06
