No definite routine in my house?

My work colleague thinks I'm really strange because we don't have a formal routine in our house, that is , we eat what we fancy/have in, shop when we need things etc, he has a set menu every week, ie Meatballs Monday, Risotto Tues , etc, then shopping for the next weekly menu exactly the same every Saturday, I honestly can't imagine anything as boring ? To piss him off I ask him if he has thought of changing the meals/days, he is horrified and goes into a sulk, I do love a drama!

Is he the one actually deciding on the menu
and doing the shopping or is it his wife by any chance?

I know people who do this, but they are generally they are more of my parents generation (60+). Usually it's the wives doing all the organisation and the husbands just go with it. I do understand it's useful for budgeting and one is doing slimming world, so it helps her.

Personally, I don't do it. DH and I don't always eat together because we finish work at different times and have different plans in the evening. We're both quite spur of the moment and have been known to pop to the supermarket on our way home to pick up something we fancy that night but don't have in.

Hmm well pre-baby we didn't have a routine really, dinner was ready when it's ready, no set menu (I also can't imagine anything so dull), some nights we'd go to the gym etc. Now baby is here dinner tends to be around the same time so she can eat then bath then bed. But it's still a very loose routine, doesn't apply at weekends if we're out for the day or something like that. So I don't think YABU.

We meal plan, but certainly not the same thing every Monday/Tuesday etc.
I’m an organised person though, I like to know I’ve got the food for 7 different meals. Can’t imagine shopping each day. I also love to meal prep in the morning when I’ve got more energy as opposed to 5pm with 2 kids at my feet!
