Hello
I am new to Mumsnet and can I ask does anyone ever had an email from the school saying that there child has been chosen at random to see all their school books for this academic year... my child is 15....does anyone know about this kind of thing I have never heard of a school doing this before

Yeah it's to check the consistency of teachers marking. Not to check your child's work.
It's called book sampling and ofsted do it so schools will check it.

This is quite normal in our school. Can be a random selection or specific pupils picked. We don't usually inform the parents though.

It’s normal. Ours have a book check every week.
