Married to a Muslim. With DD we picked a name that worked in both cultures. Now expecting DC2 and trying to think of names. Not really much option of using another name that is both English and Arabic as they have been used by other family members and tbh I'm not that keen on them. Happy to have a more Muslim name, however, it needs to easy to pronounce (my mum still occasionally pronounce DHs name wrong -not on purpose). Also a lot of the common Muslims names again all taken in his family.
Up to now we like Amina for a girl. We have considered Mina also but think we may just have it as Amina and shorten it to Mina as a nickname IYSWIM. Then Zain for any boy. Any opinions on the names or suggestions welcome Smile

I had Muslim friends called
Jameela which was lovely
Humara
Amina
Zuna
Tahira

Fareed got Fridi which was lovely

I’m not a lover of the hard names like Abid ( boy) Nudrat (girl)

TheWashingFairyatemyhamster · 06/07/2019 17:47

For a girl I like:
Azmina
Nazanin

For a boy
Rafi
Zak
Jibril

I had a friend called Bilal who insisted that the English equivalent was Bernard, which has forever caused me to think of a middle aged balding white man whenever I meet a Bilal and so I can’t have a proper opinion of the name.
