Do airBnB prices go down too?

Was trying to book a place for December. Had to wait a couple of days to make the decision, and the price changed. I had no idea that airBnB prices could go up! Sad
Does anyone know if they can also go down?
Thanks

They can do anything. The host is in charge!

If it is a quiet month for them you find they will adjust the prices down sometimes. You just have to keep checking like any holiday site. The newbies to the site are the best bet.

@Kez200 - it actually looks like all properties have gone up, as if it was done by the application, not the hosts.

@justasking111 - thanks, I think I will wait

You can always message the host and ask if they'll do you a deal. I am a host and have done a few good deals for guests. Generally when they are really nice and spin a good story and in quiet season, also for a longer stay rather than a one or two nighter.

I have no say over the Airbnb charges though and they're fairly steep I think.

Are they in a foreign currency? If they are priced in Euros, for example, and the Air BnB site is automatically converting it to Sterling for you then a change in exchange rates would change the Sterling value even though the hosts haven't changed prices.

IamAporcupine · 05/07/2019 23:53

@Julykthat - I have asked them already if they would keep the previous price for us and they don't seem willing
I am kicking myself because it is the perfect place Sad

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar - the difference is around £100 so it is not due to the exchange rate

So, here is a tip for everyone - it seems airBnB does change the price based on your previous searches.
I have just managed to book the place at the original price using DH's computer and account! Grin

That is true about any travel-related site. Always clear cookies after every search.

Shock good tip!

I was going to say clear cookies. I found this out when booking flights to America. Always clear cookies before booking.
