Oh wow, @Soola, I LOVE Dream On ft. Morgan James. I've watched it three times so far, and I know that will just be the first three times in many. Thank you for introducing me to that.

I become obsessed with new pieces of music all the time, but sadly, my latest obsession is something I picked up from 1970s vinyl, and there isn't a decent version of it online (I have checked ... I love it so much that I have listened to loads of different versions, and every single one makes it sound either so-so, or outright crap)

Led Zeppelin

Why did no-one tell me??!!

HelloCanYouHearMe · 06/07/2019 08:34

Einaudi

Just bloody amazing

whyohwhy25 · 06/07/2019 09:46

Ooh Hello I’ve just got into Einaudi for playing on the piano. Lots of snobbery about him on the piano forums I read but I love it! Which pieces do you like?

HelloCanYouHearMe · 06/07/2019 10:04

Why I'm still quite new to his stuff, but I do like his Islands album, in particular The Earth Perlude and Nuvole Bianche. I also really like Canzone Africana IV from I Giorni.

My most favourite piece is Pern by Yann Tiersen

SamBeckett · 06/07/2019 10:56

Hello have you like listening to pianist there is an album on Spotify called peaceful piano which has some lovely pieces of music in it.
I tend to listen to fairly loud upbeat music most of the time but I found something a little more peacefulI really like Andre Rieu he's a fantastic composer and violinist but also really like watching the videos and made of the audience when he's doing live concerts they really enjoying themselves as do the orchestra when they are playing they seem to have fun which is unusual with classical music
I'll posted a couple of links later on

I'm very late to the party but Lizzo, Truth Hurts

SamBeckett · 06/07/2019 13:06

Andre Rieu , , You don't have to understand the words to understand the pleasure that music brings .

.

I think if you fail to at tap your fingers or toes to this you must be dead from the ears down

Anybody that thinks classical music is stuffy and boring should watch a few of his videos

I’ve just discovered Billie Eilish
She’s only 17

surlycurly · 06/07/2019 19:30

What an eclectic mix! For the einaudi fans then you may like Olafur Arnulds. I'm a bit in love with him I think! He's an Icelandic composer who has done a variety of things including tv soundtracks but he did a collaboration on a song called 'particles' which is wonderful. Definitely worth a listen 😍

TarragonSauce · 06/07/2019 20:07

More of a rediscovery for me, I must have listened to this song before because I had to album some decades ago.
But I recently discovered the pure stress relieving almost-mindfulness of laying on the sofa listening to Why Worry (Dire Straits). There is a wonderful version on youtube with Knopfler, The Everley Brothers and Chet Atkins altogether, absolute bliss.

Time40 · 06/07/2019 22:25

*Led Zeppelin

Why did no-one tell me??!!*

Ha! I'd love to know how old you are! Nobody my age could possibly not know Led Zep (and yes, they are fabulous, aren't they?)

I’ve just discovered Billie Eilish

Isn't she great? I love Billie.

StumpyinSomerset · 06/07/2019 22:32

Skimmity Hitchers.
Never heard of them till last night. They were the support band for The Wurzels.
They're great.

Loveislandaddict · 06/07/2019 22:37

I’ve discovered loads of music by listening to the chill mixes on Spotify and Apple Music. They include

lord Heron - US indie band
Inger Gunderson - Norwegian singer
Toy Vance
Nathan bell
Jack morellos
Seafret

JWrecks · 07/07/2019 11:00

I found Aretha Franklin doing Son of a Preacher Man for the first time in my life, only a few weeks ago. Never heard it before, somehow, though I've always been a fan of her. It's absolutely wonderful - so funky, so sexy, so impossibly cool.

Also, The Hook by Blues Traveler, from 1994... I'd heard it dozens of times before, but only recently did I properly LISTEN to it. All these years I'd just been ignoring a brilliant song!

Jarimbert · 07/07/2019 12:32

Found via one of my friends, Marc Berthoumieux - Vent d'Ouest:

Also love the Sara'h cover of Perfect in French (she's covered a few other songs, too):

Crinkle77 · 07/07/2019 14:17

I discovered the band Cigarettes After Sex after watching The Handmaids Tale which featured Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby and K was in Killing Eve. They've got a really unique sound and you'd swear it was a woman singing but it's actually a bloke.

happypotamus · 07/07/2019 14:27

Fairly recently I discovered Frightened Rabbit. I love Frightened Rabbit and wonder how I missed out on them for last 10+ years. I am so sad that I will never get chance to see them live.
