Hearing aid batteries-a query

Just a quick query. My surgery just down the road has just told me I can't get DH's batteries from them any more and I can only get them from the centre (nhs) that issued his aid. That is 15 miles away!
That seems bizarre. I have emailed to query it and am hoping it was just a receptionist on a bad day.
What does everyone else do?

Local NHS drop in centre but luckily only 10 mins away.

The local clinic tried to issue my dad with just one battery and he said “I’ve got two ears love!” so they gave in and bunged him another.
