What to get the teacher

I am not one to normally get a teacher a gift, however DS' teacher has gone beyond what I would normally expect.

In the last 8 months we have moved twice and because we have moved much further away he has a lot more days off then he should of done due to me, which I don't need beating down on.

I was going to get her a little something to say thank you and a card, just saying how much I really appreciate everything she has done, she has made sure that he hasn't fallen massivly behind.

However, just found out she is leaving not only the school but the country. I am not sure whether to ask when she is leaving, but assuming (worst case) she will leave the day after school finishes.

So assuming she is not going to want a shit ton of wine, chocolate or anything like that. Would it be bad to give her a card with a teabag in it? With a note to say, this was the one thing I was desperate for but couldn't find?

Or would it be best to just give the card?

I think a heartfelt card is nice. You could also email the head and copying her in to express your gratitude. This type of feedback usually goes onto the teacher's file. I understand she's leaving, but may be positive for for a reference for future employers?

The only thing I keep are cards. I have a little box hidden away in the spare room and I read them after a tough day. I think the tea bag is a nice touch, small and considerate. Definitely send a positive email to the head, but do it as soon as possible so they head has time to commend her!

Brilliant thank you both, hadn't thought of emailing the head with feedback, so I will do that and the card
