Is my cat getting senile?

Dcat is about 13-14 and loves my DH more than anyone else. He has always cried when he goes out at odd times and clearly favours him. In the last 6 months he cries like this when DH is in the house, as if he's forgotten where he is. Is he getting senile? I don't think it's his hearing because he can hear DH walking up the garden path etc and rushes to greet him.

They can do when they get old ☹️ our first cat used to cry for food, we'd put food in his bowl then he'd look up & cry again (presumably having forgotten he'd just been fed) we'd point out there was food there & her give us a bit of a 'oh ok' face!

Dementia. Common in cats if that age. My 13 year old wanders around yowling until I shout “I’m here!” then she goes back to her normal chatty meow. It’s worse when she’s stressed, like after we’ve been on holiday or if we’ve got builders in.

You can always try adding aktivate his food. I add it to my 15 year old dogs food on the recommendation of my vet.
