Oh I was SO TEMPTED by this but chickened out

hairychinsrus · 04/07/2019 20:09

Also want to know! Massively tempted today

Nquartz · 04/07/2019 20:12

Id be slightly tempted if it was just DH & (and maybe 20!) I but not DD as well.

The actual.time you get there is pretty short (especially the long haul) and guaranteed the flights would be really inconvenient times.

Malibucyprus · 04/07/2019 20:12

Someone on Instagram is claiming they got a holiday to Dubai. Not sure how true that is....

Sidariqueen · 04/07/2019 20:12

My DD tried to get me to book. I know it’s only £99 but it’s too much to part with for the chance it could all go pear shaped. Watching with interest though!

CardinalCopia · 04/07/2019 20:24

Looks like they try and upsell the flights:

Littleraindrop15 · 04/07/2019 21:51

Thought I'd bite the bullet and hope for the best.. It's either going to be utterly amazing or ffs why did I do this.

I have to wait for the 9th of July.

Can't believe I booked it

GreyGardens88 · 04/07/2019 21:55

I read the vast majority of the destination are short haul 2 nights, with the flight out late at night and the flight back first thing in the morning

MyGastIsFlabbered · 04/07/2019 22:09

Oooh waiting for an update now! Good luck OP, hope it's somewhere awesome!

SecretWitch · 04/07/2019 22:10

Waiting for update. My fingers are crossed for you✨

Sosayi · 04/07/2019 22:55

My sister did and went to Venice a few weeks ago
She didn’t put it on SM so I’m assuming it wasn’t brilliant 😂

CakeNinja · 04/07/2019 23:50

Never heard of this.
Do you know the flight times?
Can you choose your dates?
How far in advance do you find out your fate?!

Elementalillusions · 05/07/2019 05:55

We went on one of these for my friend’s birthday.

It was exactly as PP described, late night departure flights, only a few nights with a very early morning return flight,
so you are basically paying for two days of ‘holiday’ where you can only travel and do nothing else.

There was also the most extreme upselling I’ve ever encountered, they tried dozens of times to try to get us to pay for upgrades, better flights and expensive extras, in the end it got so bad it was verging on blackmail.

We didn’t go expecting much, I’ve done some super cheap ‘bargain’ holidays before so I knew what to expect.
These kind of ‘deals’ are always the most undesirable flights and are lower end hotels, which are usually out of the way.

The hotel we stayed in was basic, it was ok but quite a walk out of the town and a little bit grim in places.

Ive done a bit of travelling and stayed in a lot of cheap places so it didn’t really bother me but I think a lot of the other people in the group were very disappointed.

Some of the friends who went booked another, more expensive one and had exactly the same experience.

It’s a not exactly scam, the only reason they offer this deal is because the flights are undesirable and cheap and the hotels are basic and cheap,
It’s not a competition to win a luxury holiday (although they sell it as though it is), the company are in it to make a profit so you need to look at it like that, the holiday will only be worth what you pay.

I definitely wouldn’t advise anyone hoping for a holiday to Dubai or anything fancy to waste their money, only book these deals if you are happy to have a 3/4 day break in a Europe with day 1 of your holiday on a 11pm flight, spend a couple of days in an undesirable hotel where you need to do a lot of walking/get buses or taxis to go anywhere and have the last day of your holiday with an early morning flight.

Littleraindrop15 · 29/07/2019 00:27

I waited and finally got really annoyed as the draw was on the 9th of July and they would not tell me the destination... I kept being told someone will contact me yet nobody did.. I contacted wowcher and asked for a refund.. I read reviews on trust pilot and that put me off lol.

I've read about people complaining about no availability for anything they want/suitable dates when they've phoned up to book.

The problem is that if you pay the initial £99 and they upsell you a bit on flights and accomodation and possibly add on overpriced insurance, transfers or other extras, the price gets up to a level where you aren't saving any money compared with simplying booking a holiday of your own choosing.

Sorority · 29/07/2019 07:13

I remember reading reviews on this. Weren't most of the holidays to Dublin?

cakecakecheese · 29/07/2019 07:22

I did this, had a lovely break to Florence.

JellyNo15 · 29/07/2019 07:30

DS has a trip to Rome soon with this deal

Littleraindrop15 · 29/07/2019 11:36

I honestly hated the customer service and how they messed me around. Didn't fill me with confidence then I saw Thomas Cook have a trip to Czech Republic for 2 under £200 so I thought I'd just get a refund

Runnerduck34 · 29/07/2019 23:37

Littleraindrop15 - did you successfully get a refund? How did you request one?
My DD and her BF bought the most recent deal, paid extra for july/august, their preferred dates are next week but all they've had is an email saying because of high demand there is a delay in allocating the holidays. They've tried to contact customer services but had no response. Sadly it sounds like a scam. They are students working part time minimum wage so its an awful lot of money for them to lose, I'm fuming on their behalf, hope it comes good for them but at this stage it doesn't look likely, so best option may well be a refund.

Littleraindrop15 · 01/08/2019 06:40

I contacted wowcher I couldn't get through to the actual holiday company...

I’ve bought one, just waiting to hear where we’re going. The draw is today! Not expecting 5 star but excited wherever I go to be honest

Holdingtherope · 22/01/2020 17:49

Ooh I’ve booked one too!

Thundercats10 · 22/01/2020 20:01

And me, a few weeks ago . The draw was supposed to be today but one heard nothing yet

CwtchesCuddles · 22/01/2020 21:01

These holidays featured on BBC Rip Off Britain Holidays last week. There was a hard upsell of better flights - they tend to use flights that arrive late and leave early so you don't get much time there.

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is!!!!
