Alcohol obviously not alcoholic

Martiniwitholives · 05/07/2019 16:29

I dislike..

Gender reveal party's.

Baby showers.

And how hen and stag do's have now seemed to turn into a 3/4 day holiday abroad with each day being some sort of celebration.

Children with their ears pierced.

People giving there kids multiple names such as ( first name - middle name, middle name, middle name, last name)

Savoury99 · 05/07/2019 16:33

People who don"t like dogs are weird.

roisinagusniamh · 05/07/2019 16:36

Wholelotta, setting aside other factors, the fact remains that breast milk is better for human babies.
It's not an issue if a mother can't feed naturally for various reasons, but it doesn't change the fact .

SpaceCadet4000 · 05/07/2019 16:57

I don't really like movies. 99.9% are rubbish, consumerist filler.

Weddings have become ridiculous and it's a stupid thing to pay lots of money for.

Taking a year's maternity leave is too disruptive to your career.

All this wine time/gin time stuff is thinly veiled alcoholism.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 05/07/2019 17:26

I like dogs much more than people.

Middle names are fucking pointless and I don't understand threads on here where people agonise about them. No one's ever going to use them.

If you genuinely think that being overweight/obese is in anyway "glamourised" and "celebrated" you have clearly never been overweight and have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Just because you saw Tess Holliday on the cover of Cosmo once doesn't mean anything.

Amibeingdaft81 · 05/07/2019 17:31

@SpaceCadet4000

What films have you enjoyed?

WatchingTheWheels85 · 05/07/2019 17:34

@glastonbore 100% with you.
Smoking when you have children is selfish.

louderthan · 05/07/2019 17:35

Wetherspoons is good
Nando's is great
Onion rings are better than chips
All children are irritating
IVF should not be available on the NHS
Vegetarians are hypocrites

Amibeingdaft81 · 05/07/2019 17:36

Smoking when you have children is selfish.

Not exactly an unpopular opinion!

Disfordarkchocolate · 05/07/2019 17:46

@louderthan, onion rings are better than chips so even if it's an unpopular opinion at least you know you are right.

Soola · 05/07/2019 17:52

@TrendyNorthLondonTeen neither of my children have middle names. They’re adults now and it hasn’t caused any problems.

Sparklingbrook · 05/07/2019 18:06

My two don't have middle names either. I didn't see the point.

mydogisthebest · 05/07/2019 19:16

Middle names are completely pointless.

Dogs are much nicer than children, much less hassle and much cuter.

Doormat247 · 05/07/2019 19:24

It's not normal to require alcohol with a meal or on an evening to relax after a 'stressful' day

IVF should not be allowed on NHS

Free childcare places shouldn't be available to those who don't work (they effectively HAVE free childcare already)

MauisHouseOnMaui · 05/07/2019 19:29

Free childcare places shouldn't be available to those who don't work

Do you mean the funded places for two year olds? This is not childcare, it is early years education as it's been shown that children from certain socio-economic backgrounds are more likely to start school at a disadvantage and early years education is a key part of removing/lessening that disadvantage. The places are limited to fifteen hours per week over five days (three hours a day) and are term time only, just like school.

You'd have be a bit of a twat to begrudge two year old children access to an scheme designed to improve their educational attainment.

MauisHouseOnMaui · 05/07/2019 19:30

And the funded places aren't just available to children from households where no one is in employment. They are also available to children from households with a low income, children with disabilities or SEN, children in foster care/looked after children, and children who need peer support to further their development.

Amibeingdaft81 · 05/07/2019 19:34

@MauisHouseOnMaui
I presume the pp means for over 3s, which is non means tested

whatwouldbigfatfannydo · 05/07/2019 19:38

@popcornzoo

Take it you haven't seen education-specific tech before then? Tech is a lifeline to some kids with additional support needs. I've seen non-verbal children do a 180 after tech enables them to communicate with the neurotypical world...

Imagine your non-verbal child being able to call you mum for the first time ever (even if it's typed) because they can access tech as a communication device..

MauisHouseOnMaui · 05/07/2019 19:46

I presume the pp means for over 3s, which is non means tested

Universal provision for over threes is the same as the provision for two year olds - fifteen hours per week in term time only.

The 30 hours free childcare for three year olds is for people who are in work. People who don't work may still qualify but only where one of them works and the other receives specific benefits such as incapacity benefit or severe disablement allowance.

Doormat247 · 05/07/2019 19:48

@ the person who called me a twat. This is UNPOPULAR opinions so don't be a twat yourself.
I earn sod all but will barely be able to get any funded childcare while my lazy neighbours get plenty of help. So yeah, it's my opinion.

SlowLiving · 05/07/2019 19:49

Dyeing your grey hair does not make you look younger. It looks shite, fake and you look like mutton dressed as lamb.

People who are fat eat too much.

Tattoos are foul.

Fat women should not wear leggings.

MauisHouseOnMaui · 05/07/2019 19:53

This is UNPOPULAR opinions so don't be a twat yourself.

There's unpopular opinions and then there are downright unpleasant ones. The places for two years olds are early years education, not childcare, I stand by my opinion that it is repugnant to begrudge a two year old child access to early education.

Doormat247 · 05/07/2019 19:59

@MauisHouseOnMaui - I'd say come and do me some free childcare then but I don't think id want you anywhere near any kids 🙄.

I think pretty much anyone who works ridiculous hours and has a 5hr commute daily to work would appreciate a little help towards childcare - but no, give it to those who pay nothing into the country instead.

It's my opinion and I stick by it. You don't respect mine so I won't bother to respect yours. I won't waste my time replying to you again (unless you pull the stick out of your arse).

sar302 · 05/07/2019 20:07

Free hours for over 3s isn't universal I don't think - if one parent earns over 100k, you're not eligible.
