Has anyone ever done it? I really fancy going on it. If you have been successful, then what does the audition process involve?

No idea but I'd bloody love to be on Pointless! Nobody will go with me though. Bastards.

Myself and DH applied back in 2013 and got through to the audition stage. Was held in a hotel and basically involved a very basic mock up of the quiz. However, despite 'winning', we didn't get through to the next round of the audition (we had to wait outside the room whilst they made their decision then they called the successful candidates through).

We basically weren't 'zany' enough for them.. most of the other candidates were very try-hard and a lot were obviously there because they wanted to be on TV as opposed to liking/bring good at quizzes.

Sorry to hear that Silversun, I was told by someone, who has been on it before, that they wanted people who would either do extremely well or very badly. No idea how true that is though. For the record, my friend joined the 200 club.

From what I've seen of the contestants on the shows, you have to be willing and capable of 'banter' with Xander and Richard - not just giving an answer, but chatting about that answer. That's where I think I'd fail miserably, as I find the inane chat a distraction and would want to simply give an answer!

My brother auditioned for The Chase. He was turned down because he wasn't interesting enough 😂 They phrased it differently but that was the gist.

JanetandJohn500 · 03/07/2019 21:19

They want people who will talk through how they got to their answer so instead of saying "The answer is Bruce Springsteen" you say "I think I know this and I know it because in 1984 when I was giving birth, this song was playing on the radio. It's Bruce Springsteen."
It makes for better telly 🙂

Yes! The audition process was a trip to a hotel in Holborn where we did a pen & paper quiz then a mock up of the game. They liked us as we were sisters & we got through to be on the actual programme which was filmed about six months later.
Do it! It was a great day!
I have a Pointless trophy on my mantlepiece!

Thanks for the tips Janetandjohn and Ladytron.

That's impressive to win the trophy!

Okay, I've submitted my form and so has my partner, so fingers crossed!
