Wanting to try get baby to recognise names etc so with him having 2 grandmas and both being known as 'Grandma', would they be called Grandma June & Grandma Sue or Grandma Smith & Grandma Jones for example?

I only had one living Nan/Grandad but my cousins who had both sets of grandparents referred to them as Dorset Nanny/Grandad and (their town) Nanny/Grandad based on where they lived. My aunt actually wanted Grandma first names tbh but as neither lady cared to be Grandma and both had the same names (first and middle) it was a non-starter! Grin

We have a Little Grandpa and a Big Grandpa!

lullapalooza · 06/07/2019 18:42

Scottish Grandma and English Grandma

My kids grandma's are nanny and granny so no confusion. Granddad's are "granddad" and "granddad first name"

Mine were both nan's and they were "name of aunt" nanny and "name of their cat" nanny. Same with my granddad's

First name!

I had a nana and a grandma so no need for differentiation there but for my 2 grandads I used their first names so eg grandad Paul and grandad Steve Smile

@BuzzShitbagBobbly

My mum is known by nanma to my niece and nephews too, I've never come across anyone else known by that before :)

My grandmothers were Nana DadsSurname and Nana MumsSurname. I only had one grandfather, so no confusion there. We didn't address them directly as Nana DadsSurname - it is very formal. We used the "names" they'd already acquired from their previous grandchildren.

My DD only has one set of grandparents now, but they all had different "names". My Dad initially didn't want to be called the name he's now got, but his first grandchild "named" him, and it's stuck! (and it suits him Smile)

We have 'grandma first name' and 'little grandma' here! (My mum is 5 foot nothing)
I had two 'nanny surnames' when I was little, but then both of my nannies had the same first name.

Pineapplefish · 06/07/2019 19:24

I called my two grandfathers Grandpa

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 06/07/2019 19:32

Mine were Granny mums maiden name and nanny dads surname

My step dads mum (my brother and sisters grandparents) is just gran (mwe identify them by saying 'paps amd gran' rather than 'granny and grandad mum maiden name')

Grandma first name. I'm the non-local Grandma so I think I'll be Grandma Disfordarkchocolate. Local Grandma will probably end up as just Grandma.

We have Grandad (DogsName) and Grandad (OtherDogsName). Both dogs have long since gone, but the names remain.
