Donations to Food banks

Would/Do food banks distribute nappies and sanitary products that are donated?

I never see it on their lists, but include things like toothpaste, hair products, toilet roll, wipes, deodorant ..

And if not - where can you donate these sort of things to ensure they reach the intended woman in need?

Yes, they would - ours is often asking for larger size nappies in particular

The one near us does - and occasionally lists them,

Yes!

I’d ask the ones local to you as local needs vary. The one I donate to has said they don’t really need as many as are donated as he majority of their service users are single men (I suppose the group most likely to be relying on JSA alone as families can access lots of other benefits.)

The community centre near me which hosts things like mum and baby groups, surestart etc collects sanitary items as does the youth centre.

I volunteer for Home Start, and my branch takes in nappies for distribution to the families who need them.
