I hate wasting food but have discovered the sausages planned for dinner are out of date ....30th June ....would you cook them anyway if they smell ok (haven't opened packet yet) children in household but all fairly robust

Also would freeze some if there are no little bubbles or smell. I do this from time to time, forget to use them and no one has been ill so far. If there are little bubbles I bin them though.

Pork ones smell fine but I've put the others in the food waste as they smelt a bit odd

Wasn't there a thread a while ago about a woman whose husband fished out some out of date, bubbling sausages he found in their bin. He ate them and was fine.

Another poster who was a food technician gave a very thorough and impressive explanation about why the sausages were fine to eat.

I would have cooked them all and then frozen what I didn't use today chopped up to chuck into pasta for quick dinners.

It's only been 3 days people! Food does not go off (as long as it's stored correctly) at midnight on the day printed on the packet!
