Kid’s favourite restaurant

We are stuck in a Pizza Express phase at the moment. Admittedly it could be worse (like the yo sushi phase) and we do eat other places but Pizza Express is always first their first choice. What is your dc’s favourite?

If you're just talking about chain restaurants their favourite is Miller and Carter as they love a good steak.

SushiGo · 02/07/2019 23:24

My 3 DC:

YoSushi
IKEA hotdog stand
No firm favourite

Vinorosso74 · 02/07/2019 23:25

DD (9) likes a local pizza/pasta place and a Turkish restaurant-she loves the meat (I'm a veggie myself). Chain wise it's Pizza Express, Wagamama, Carluccios and Leon.

ZenNudist · 02/07/2019 23:32

My kids love going out to eat full stop but ask them and they will say:
MacDonalds
KFC
Pizza hut

We go to none of these.

They also love our local hipster overpriced burger joint, which dh loves too.

bluechameleon · 02/07/2019 23:49

DS1 (4): Used to be Byron, then Giraffe for a while. Now he often picks Yo Sushi, not for the food (he only eats the panko chicken and prawns, fruit salad and pancakes) but for the conveyor. Also loves Ikea, and has a bizarre penchant for the Morrisons cafe, despite the cake being nicer in literally every other cafe in town. 1 year DS2 doesn't get a say yet.

DC loved Pizza Express so much when they were little that they would always choose it when their DGP took them out for the day. So much so that when we took them there, the manager greeted them by name and asked if they wanted the usual table. Several decades on, I still save the 2 for 1 vouchers you get in the supermarket Pizza Express pizzas for them. They haven't quite outgrown it but at least they don't take me there for Mother's Day and they finally enjoy more sophisticated cuisine when we go out, particularly if I am paying.

RainbowMum11 · 03/07/2019 00:30

If we are talking chain/generic food, DD6 has taken a liking to fish & chips (mini fish & chips, almost enough for both of us anyway!) from our local chippy.
She doesn't like eating out other than the occasional trip to a local pub or Harvester so she can have sausages, mash, peas, gravy & Yorkshire pudding!!!!

BaronessBomburst · 03/07/2019 00:38

Mine likes a sodding expensive Japanese restaurant, which is also a half hour drive down the motorway.
I can usually fob him off with a local Chinese buffet though.
He's 9.

NewYoiker · 03/07/2019 00:43

@RagingWhoreBag get her a wrap as there is no spice in that except a sweet chilli sauce and you can ask for that removed if needed. Ask for plain chicken and the piri tamer kids bbq that cancels out the heat on the chicken...

TheRedBarrows · 03/07/2019 00:49

Franco Manca
Yo Sushi
Wagamamma

ShatFic · 03/07/2019 07:16

Wagamama and Pizza Express have always been our favourites, but we've recently been to Harvester and Pizza Hut as the novelty of the salad bar is a big hit. Pizza Hut was a nice surprise after not going there for over a decade - lots of menu choices including vegan and gluten free, and fantastic service.

BillyAndTheSillies · 03/07/2019 07:32

We've only been to Wagamama's once with DS(3) and he loved it so need to go back.
Chain wise, Miller & Carter always goes down well with him. As does Nando's and Pizza Express.

I just asked him his favourite restaurant and he said "CAFF!" where we go for a cheeky fry up on a Friday if I'm off work. His standard order is bacon, halloumi, beans and scrambled egg.

He's always impeccably behaved in two tiny Italian restaurants near us because they make a fuss of him. And he can have bread and olives until the cows come home. Then lasagne, then ice cream. Without fail.

Lots of ideas here!

whitehalleve · 03/07/2019 07:41

My toddler loves pizza express, our local one is so great with little ones that we end up going there all the time now. And so much cheaper than pre baby meals out! Grin

thesunwillout · 03/07/2019 07:44

McDonald's, he's 17

stucknoue · 03/07/2019 07:45

We have local chains and independents that are better than the national chains (never heard of giraffe though), as my kids are now older they like carluccios, cafe rouge, or just Wetherspoons (more alcohol on offer)

drspouse · 03/07/2019 07:45

We have very little choice (small town) but anywhere you can get beans on toast. Or cheese on toast for DD. Or a bacon roll.
There's a hippy whole food place that does both, the beach cafe does bacon rolls.
We do have a Bella Italia though and they like the straws Hmm.

babysharkah · 03/07/2019 12:09

The local curry house for chicken tikka. I don't think I can ever go to pizza express again, literally overdosed on it. They're 8 now.

mbosnz · 03/07/2019 12:15

My youngest is extremely fond of a pub we go to that is very 'haphazard' in it's competency, lol.

Some days it makes Fawlty Towers look good.

Trust her to pick a lame duck. . .

ShivD · 03/07/2019 12:29

Franco Manca, Nando’s or Five guys for the older 3 (7,9,11)

Greggs with granny for the 3 year old Grin

That’s so cute. I’m imagining a waiter with a white napkin draped over his arm greeting them with great aplomb. Smile Grin
