It’s something I find hard to cope with and understand after growing up with a mum who would sulk and not speak for days

Nope, cant stand sulkers. Just say what's bothering you and move on.

I don’t get why some people do it ?

Like for example mum would sulk and not talk for days .......about crazy non important stuff then she would eventually snap out of It
By then be ok again

I need regular alone time but am definitely not a sulker. Apart from it being really annoying and manipulative I also lack the will power to shut up for that long.
