Looking for recommendations please. Dd has some sensory issues and hates the feel of most sunscreens. But she needs good protection as she’s going on holiday to a hot country soon.

La Roche Posay do a good one.

Clinique do a mineral one for face and body that’s really light weight

Piz Buin is the best I've come across. Not sticky or greasy and doesn't stain clothes.
On the pricey side but it's fairly 'liquid' so a little goes quite a long way.
Superdrug often have it on offer.

I found Boots Soltan factor 50 significantly less sticky and greasy than other supermarket versions. I threw away some Morrisons because it was so awful to apply, but the Boots version is fine.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 01/07/2019 22:55

Piz Buin all the way for me. It's usually on offer somewhere, worth googling to check.

But my top tip is to use a fake tanning mitt to apply suncream. No sticky fingers!

This stuff is amazing -

It is absorbed into the skin rather than sitting on top so makes your skin lovely and soft and not greasy in the slightest. Wouldn't buy any other brand now, apart from Ultrasun for the face.

They do a 50 too but we have never burned on the 30.

Sunsense factor 50 spray. It's a clear liquid rather than a cream.

Aldi also do one

I love Ambre Solaire Dry Mist Sun Cream Spray
It’s fantastic

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 02/07/2019 02:02

I've always liked the Neutrogena range "Dry Touch" range.

My children also much prefer sunscreen sticks to bottles. Not necessarily less greasy, but quick and easy to apply.

The Nivea spray in an aerosol can is fab. Comes in factor 30 and 50. £6 in Tesco.

It's not sticky or greasy at all and I wasted far less than I normally do with a lotion as it's easier to control how much you get at one time.

likeridingabike · 02/07/2019 06:49

The once a day ones are a good option for children (and adults like my ex) who don't like suncream, Soltan Once or Ultrasun are my usual ones, more expensive but of course you use less. Ultrasun do a sports gel.

Just heard about this on a consumer podcast. Developed by a dermatologist who wanted to overcome the barriers to effective sunscreen use, one of which was cited as being unpleasant to apply.

Also it's being sold without profit or marketing costs, so that it's as affordable as possible.

Thank you, some great suggestions.

Boots Soltan kids SPF 50 stick, it doesn't feel sticky and it doesn't sting your eyes if you sweat. Plus it's a good size for a pocket/bag if you're out during the day.

Love the idea of a fake tanning mit for applying sunscreen! Thank you for the tip :)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 02/07/2019 20:41

It's a pleasure, @Mynxie Smile. The ones I like are Velvotan, bought from eBay. I'm sure they are all pretty much of a muchness.

BarbaraofSeville I bought some of the 30f Altruism sunscreen after reading your post - it’s brilliant! I’m in Spain on holiday at the moment and can vouch for its non stickiness and effectiveness. I’ll definitely be ordering more. Also animal friendly.
