Can you recommend me an effective, hopefully home based, exercise program?

I’m only a few pounds overweight but VERY apple shaped, I need to for my health sort out the weight I carry on my middle. I’m so-so fit, but out of habit. I’ve done the 30 day shred before and quite enjoyed it,is there anything out there now and easy to access? I like bike ride, my legs are toned and I do yoga but I need something a bit more intense for fitness levels.

Thanks!

Have a look at Fitness Blender on YouTube. Lots of different exercises for different levels of fitness and I've found them the easiest to follow.

I'm doing the couch to 5k which is really improving my fitness and I'm Losing weight. I'm doing it in the park but if you have a treadmill you could do it at home. If you like dancing the fitness marshal on YouTube is great as well.

I find kettlebell workouts really effective and great to do at home. I usually have to do a rolling exit out of bed the day after a workout 😀

Les mills app, or if you don't have equipment kettlebell routines on YouTube & buy a kettlebell 😀

gaggiagirl · 01/07/2019 21:38

If you have £10 per month to spare then absolutely sign up to les mills on demand.
You get body Pump
CxWorx, lots of spin bike based programs, dance, cardio, combat, hiit, step. It's brilliant.
I'm an apple and even though I've lost no weight it's carved me a waist!

FinnBalorsAbs · 01/07/2019 21:43

DDPYoga. It’s an app, costs around £6 a month. Hundreds of workouts, fat burning, intense, non-zen-like-calm yoga. I’ve lost six stone so far doing it paired with calorie counting and have actual muscles. All done at home around naptimes, Chromecast to my TV. I love it!

Ellieboolou27 · 01/07/2019 22:06

I use YouTube and "bodyfit by Amy" is great, lost 15lb in 5 weeks doing her workouts 4-5 times a week. I'm also Apple shaped and have really noticed a difference. 30 day shred kills my knees.
Have been eating 1509-1600 cakes a day too

I LOVE THIS DIET Grin

OP, I was going to suggest 30 Day Shred but you've done it already. Can second FitnessBlender and Les Mills. Going to try a few other suggestions on here. I speed walk a lot, at least an hour a day and do weights sessions at home too, I've got a variety of different ones, also kettle bells and a bar with plates. I am also an apple and it's a bloody difficult shape to deal with. Thanks Mum.

mushforbrain · 01/07/2019 22:14

I do some running and netball but if it’s raining or I can’t be arsed / have time to leave the house, I squeeze in a Joe Wicks 15 min workout - they are on You Tube and free and there’s loads of different ones. Search The Body Coach. So quick but effective. Warning: he has a squeaky voice! Completely irrelevant but it totally threw me when I first did one! Smile

eurochick · 01/07/2019 22:27

That's a brilliant typo!

I third Fitness Blender.

piedmontpepper · 01/07/2019 22:31

Couch to 5k has changed my life. Six months ago I was 12.5 stone and could barely run 30 seconds. I am now 9st exactly and run 5-10k 3/4 times a week. I also do home based strength training twice a week.

And I hated exercise, I never thought I would become a runner but here I am. Have had a cold so haven't run in a week and am desperate to get back to it tomorrow.

MiraculousMarinette · 01/07/2019 22:32

I would also recommend Fitness Blender. I actually bought the workout programme on their website. All their videos are free but if you want a structured programme where you don't need to think about putting it together then give it a try. It cost me £17 for four weeks. It's not a subscription ot anything. The couple who are behind it are really good, knowledgeable and gentle trainers. They really promote body positivity whilst encouraging you to push yourself.

TescosFinest · 01/07/2019 22:36

Eye See Digital workouts on YouTube. I love this Dutch (?) lady. All her workouts are excellent. I am particularly partial to the kettle bells ones and the Swiss ball ones. But they are all good, you cannot go wrong with her programmes :)

At last I've found the diet for me Grin thank you.

Leobynature · 01/07/2019 22:57

Insanity 30, is by far the best workout I have ever done at home. It’s only 30 mins long and you burn so many calories. It doesn’t get boring either (Shaun T is pretty good to look at). I brought my dvd set for £20 from eBay
. Bargain

OddHoleySocks · 01/07/2019 23:24

I mean, I love cake, but I think I would struggle to eat that many...

TheDogsMother · 01/07/2019 23:33

Check out Jillian Michaels DVDs and App. Great workouts for just 30 mins and very effective. You can get the DVDs on Amazon for good prices

Ellieboolou27 · 01/07/2019 23:42

😂😂😂 love predictive text! Obviously meant calories whilst dreaming of cakes 🍰🤪

Mammyloveswine · 02/07/2019 07:35

Just started couch to 5k!! Loving it so far! Perfect bit of me time!

fakeusername · 03/07/2019 09:42

I’ve done couch to 5k before but my problem is I have three young children and a husband who works long hours, I’m being realistic about being home based as I can do it. If my husband works late I end up missing exercise, or I’m too tired by then. At home I just start the morning with it.

I’ll look at insanity thanks... or go back to the faithful shred. I also have the issue of being broke which isn’t good for equipment or subscriptions!
