DS nearly 2 is on day 3 of chicken pox and is really struggling this evening. He's woken up 3 times already and is forehead spots are really bothering him. I've cut his nails but he just keeps rubbing them, sock on hands was not entertained.

He's had an oat bath calpol and poxclin. I just don't know how to make him comfortable. He's really really trying to sleep but it's just not happening.

I hate seeing him like this

Have you given piriton?

meepmoop · 01/07/2019 21:00

Oo no I haven't, is there a special piriton I need to get? Only have tablets which I can't give him

You can get liquid piriton in tesco that's suitable for 12 months plus..

Go to boots and ask for anti histamine liquid, it was a godsend.
Also get some eurax cream. It says not to use on under 3s without the advice of a dr, but the pharmacist gave it to us knowing DS was 16 months and that really seemed to help. Also, loose clothing or maybe clothes off if it’s warm enough where you are. We put ours in some of DS1’s T-shirts which we’re like a dress on him, but he seemed to like no fabric touching his skin and I think if they get warm they itch more anyway.
Poor little thing.
Poor you too!
I hope he feels better soon

I forgot to add - virasoothe worked really well fir us as well as poxclin

I used head and shoulders original shampoo in my 13 month daughters bath completely eased the itching. I saw it on Facebook and I'm shocked it worked so well.

Thanks everyone, I'll go to the chemist first thing and restock. I can't wait until it's over.

If it helps at all DS is just 2 (2 weeks ago) and just getting over it. For some reason day 3 was the worst and he’s been absolutely fine since! I hope it’s the same for you and your DS
