What would your turning 4 year old want?

Boring question, sorry. I have a turning 4 year old and people are asking what she'd like for her upcoming birthday.

She doesn't have any "needs", as she's a young cousin and gets a lot of handed down toys and clothes, so in that sense there is no gap to fill. So it's down to "wants".

If I ask her, she wants an octonauts magazine (which has been bought and wrapped), and "a toy jellyfish", which probably means a cuddly one because she loves all things "cute", but people keep giving her soft toys and we're somewhat overrun!

What do your 4 year olds like? She's pretty excited by anything, but I'm just drawing blanks trying to think of suggestions!

Thanks :)

Does she have any Little Brian Paint sticks? They are massive hit in this house.

Mine is obsessed with My Little Pony, so she had the MLP castle and loads of figures!

Mine is 4 next week. She’s asked for LOL dolls, ‘what’s the time Mr Wolf’ orchard toys game, a colour changing umbrella, a Lottie doll and an Alice in Wonderland costume.

hidinginthenightgarden you’re organised! DD2 is 4 next week, I asked her at the weekend what she wanted and will order her presents online at the weekend Blush

Lego. Lots & lots of Lego..

Snacktalk · 01/07/2019 20:05

The stilts sound right up her alley too. And my little pony. And I love the look of the paint sticks - I'm tired of washing paint pots out all the time!

I'm so glad I asked here! This will be plenty to cover Christmas too!

Kinetic sand. A trombone. Hatchimals

I was thinking lego, until I remembered that she drops small things all over the house and we have a crawler who goes around eating those small things...! Lego then seemed dangerous!

Playmobil my DD loves it! Can spend ages makes up little scenarios and they have a set for every thing. She particularly loves her classroom and caravan, they are remarkably realistic.

Mine wants a plastic fish! And a kite.

If she will be happy with the magazine and cuddly then just get her that. Put any other money you would have spent into an account for later years. She will have much more joy out of it when she can afford to top up to a better phone etc as a teenager.

valkarie totally agree with you. Our gift to her is a cheap secondhand Gumtree find! (She doesn't care about cost or it being second hand at this age, so we're saving for the future, as you say).

It's more that we have very lovely family and friends asking for gift ideas, and often they give her money for savings but want to turn up with something for her to open too, and despite suggesting to my parents and sister that they go halves on the octonauts magazine (!), it seems to be met with an eye roll and a desire to get her something more "exciting" ..!

My 4 year old requested and got an umbrella which he loves 😂

My dd had a bike, scooter and lol dolls, she also loves sticker activity books.

Also getting to choose a daytrip, she's already decided she wants to go bowling for her 5th birthday.
