One from childhood
One from teenagehood
One from before being a parent
One since being a parent
Childhood
Making kites in reception. Only one boy was allowed to use wood and the rest of us used paper straws instead. My friend was accused of tangling the strings so wasn’t allowed to take part in our treat later in the day of meeting farm animals. I remember being shocked that the lamb actually felt like a jumper.
Teenage
Being allowed to to London just me and my sister to watch a band play. Wearing the most ridiculous floral wedges that reminded me of Amy Winehouse and hobbling around the city.
Before becoming a parent
Handing in my disertation at university and walking back to my student digs in the sunshine. Not being able to stop grinning as it felt like the weight of the world had been lifted. I was listening to call me maybe on my iPod and thinking that song would never get boring.
Since Parenthood
Sitting outside a pub by the river. DD wearing a beautiful dress and the sweetest little shoes that always got commented on. She was throwing stones in the river and we all took turns holding on to her. She was doing it for over an hour.
Please share your memories. I love every day life stories on MN!
