Prescription sunglasses

So, this winter I ‘upgraded’ my glasses/contact lenses to varifocals.
I have some amazing sunglasses that I’ve had for 20 years (still not a scratch and in very good condition).
Obviously I can’t use them anymore and I need some prescription sunglasses.
Current glasses were (very) expensive but worth every penny. I’m not sure I’m ready to spend the same amount of money of sunglasses though.

So what have you find work well re sunglasses?

I just bit the bullet and bought some prescription sunglasses (also varifocals) I just found the cheapest frames I liked. If you like your old frames is it possible to use this and just replace the lenses?

I think it’s the lenses I have an issue it’s tbh.
I have been to Vision Express for a long while but could never quite saw ‘clearly’. I assume it was my vision and the glasses.
When I went to our little indépendant optician, I discovered that actually, I had been using the wrong prescription for years! Shock
The lenses are perfect and so is the fitting. But the price 🥴🥴

What sort of frames/lenses do you go for?

I have -8ish prescription with astigmatism of -2ish, and that makes for very thick corners of the lenses. I always though i'd have to go for very small frames, but that doesn't work well for sunglasses

My lenses always have to be made thinner otherwise they look like glass bottle on the side!

I agree that with sunglasses, you need some bigger frame.

Can I ask where you got your glasses from and how good the lenses are?

In Specsavers it's buy one get one free, as long as they're the same prescription. so I got a free pair of sunglasses.
