Wasps nest anyone?

I will preface this by saying that I am a self-confessed wimp when it comes to wasps. I can do spiders, rats, snakes etc but wasps make me feel sick.

I think we have a nest in our roof space. House is converted stable block, with living room being only room upstairs. Cracking, rustling noise coming from inside the lower part of the wall, which connects to the roof of the rest of the building.

Is this a nest? If so, I will call pest control but can they do anything about it if it’s deep inside the roof - there’s no attic so how will they get to it?

Can I keep the windows open tonight? The baby’s room is on that side and I don’t want any of the little bs getting in there.

Oh God I HATE wasps. They make my skin crawl. NO CHANCE of sleep till this is sorted.

have you seen any extra wasps around? i know more about bees than wasps....you sometimes get solitary bees, and i'm guessing wasps. So i cant see they are going to cause you much grief. Wasps only nest in one place for a year and then go somewhere else....but i'm guessing that doesnt help you. Is it definately inside the wall? could it be birds or mice?

can you dab some insect repellant on tonight while you suss the situation out?

If you can here something it is much more likely to be mice?

Oh I would be DELIGHTED if it was mice, birds etc. I’d happily welcome rats or even sodding tarantulas rather than the evil yellow and black buggers.

Do we think I should just call pest control out to have a look? Or will they think I’m an eejit?

Will ask my dad to come round tomorrow and have a listen but tbh he’ll probably just play it down, seeing as he has at least three nests a year and just shrugs and shuts off rooms that become infested 🤦🏽‍♀️ I however do not have the space (or the mental strength) to coexist with these creatures!
