Is this a thing? Professions going to the same pubs

Met a friend for drinks yesterday and went by a pub where the party was in full swing. It was only 5pm so I was a bit perplexed why they were so merry, but my friend said that it's famous/notorious for attracting all the teachers!

It was the last day of the school year here so that explains the party

There’s a police pub near here and I used to drink regularly in a lawyers pub near work (behind the royal courts of justice in London, for those that might know it).

Am sure there are other similar places, but those two I have personal knowledge of!

Yes, ours is due to the fact all (or most) of the profession is in one location either due to their offices or meetings being there. The pubs will be named something along the lines of the profession too.

Prostitutes tend to have bars which are well know haunts.

I really did mean more in the line of a lawyers' pub

Lord yes. Back in the day when I worked in London, there were not just lawyers and insurance pubs but some of the insurance ones were "marine" and others "life". I was on the legal dept. and we had a separate pub from the actuaries.

I know a few journalists' pubs and police pubs. Oh, and a cafe used by lawyers.

Yep, depends on the night of the week too. I used to run a pub which was a miners pub on a Thursday and then a pub/bar workers pub on Sundays, teachers on Fridays.

Yes there was a journalists pub near me because there was a publishing firm in the area and of course around the courts there’s lawyers pubs.

Yes, I could tell you which were the nurse pubs near my previous job.

I know an inland revenue pub i.e. the nearest decent pub to a large inland revenue office.
