Could I have left the house infested with fleas but not be affected myself?
So yesterday I was contacted by the new tenant of the house we moved out of 4 weeks ago. She told me that the house is infested with fleas. That they are jumping out of the floorboards, they are in all her furniture, all beds, all bedding and their clothes. She told me I'm disgusting and that I should fix the problem.
She says that because we have a cat that it must be our fault.
We do have a cat which we treat monthly and I also have a regular spray about with flea spray for good measure. What I don't understand is why weren't/aren't we having flea problems? My cat hasn't shown any signs either when we were living at that house or now and wouldn't we have brought some with us in our soft furnishings if it was that bad? We have quite a few rugs and sofas and can't find anything in them. We've also been letting the cat sleep on our bed while he gets used to the new house, we have white sheets and haven't seen anything. The cat did have fleas years ago, in a different house, and I got biten then so I presume I would be biten now if he had them again?
So what's going on? Is it possible that there was that many fleas in the house when we were living there but they somehow chose not to affect my cat or us? Dearest mumsnet please she'd some light on this mystery if you can!
