Transport for a 5year old

Hello.
I’m new to this so I hope it’s ok to post.
I have a 5 year old, we live about a mile and a half away from our local shops and we like to walk. We have been taking a buggy with us in case she gets tired, but she’s getting to big. I have seen some children on the scooters that can be pushed by parents etc. Anyone got any ideas?
Thank you

Just get a normal scooter, DD has had a Micro Sprite Scooter since she was 4 and can scoot decent distances on that. No need to be pushed by a parent and if she gets bored scooting she can walk a little while you scoot (they have an adult weight limit) Smile

A five year old with no health issues should be able to scoot or bike or indeed walk a three mile round trip. If she's not used to it you might need to build up the distance bit by bit but she should be able to do it eventually.
I look after a five year old and a three year old and they bike/scoot/walk to school every day which is a mile away, the three year old does the return journeys too so can do around 5-6 miles a day of we go to a playgroup as well.

Is she a healthy 5 year old? No medical issues? If so, I'm not sure why she can't walk? Children that age regularly do park run for example which is over one mile and they run it, I know my own children were walking 3 miles plus by a younger age. Clearly not that quickly until they were about 5/6, so if you need more speed a bike is a good option! I'd stop taking the buggy though I think you'll be surprised at what she can actually manage.

We walk the mile and a half and back to our local shops regularly with our DC and they've been doing it since they were about 3. They're 4 and 6 now. They do like taking their bikes but it is a faff locking their bikes up etc. A fold up scooter might be a good idea. It's easier to carry if she doesn't want to use it.

I have to admit, I do miss having the buggy for putting the shopping in now!!
