Can someone please explain Ryanair baggage rules to me please?

Really confused by the baggage policy. If I pay an extra £96 then it looks like I can take a small bag and a 10kg bag into the cabin ( that's for 4 of us)
If I don't pay the £96 then I'm assuming that I get just the smaller hand luggage? What about my ( normally hand luggage size) suitcase?
Not sure if I can't take at all OR there's an additional charge to put in the hold. It's not clear ( to me anyway!)

You can only take tiny hand luggage 40x20x25 I think. Then if you want cabin sized case 10kg you need to pay extra. I think it's about £10 each way. So should be £80 approx if you all take extra case.

There’s an additional charge to put it in the hold.
You can take the tiny Ryanair handluggage of something like 40x15x20 on free and anything else you pay for.
Not everyone in the group needs to buy extra luggage if you don’t want to. Plus gets you 10kg in the cabin plus priority boarding. Or you can pay for your 10kg in hold( although there is dimensions for it also) or you can pay for a normal sized suitcase in the hold. Everything is extra with Ryanair.

The cheapest way to get a hand luggage size trolley on board is to book priority boarding.

Otherwise look at checking in a bigger 20kg case, it may work out cheaper than paying for 4 lots of hand luggage.

You could also look at paying for one or two larger hold cases instead of the 10kg cases. It will be a similar price to 4 x10 kilos but might be easier to deal with as you will get rid of most of your luggage and not have to drag it round the airport.

Or as PP suggests, if you aren't going for long you could just get one or two 10 kg hand luggage cases but then some of your party will have priority and some won't.

The non priority people obviously won't be able to board at the same time as the priority people but I suppose there's nothing to stop the priority people waiting with the rest of the party except you might struggle to find a spot for your case as most people just shove their bag in the lockers with no thought for efficient loading and you might have to put it miles away from your seat or rearrange a load of cases to make space for yours.

But yes, if you pay no extra at all, all you can take is the smaller bag. You can pay for priority and take your wheelie case in the cabin.

You can also pay slightly more to check the same case into the hold. Or you can pay quite a bit more for a full size suitcase into the hold. Advantage of having a hold case is that you can take all the liquids you need without worrying about the 100 ml limit.

Current baggage rules, which may be changed.
