I thought it was an excellent depiction.
Really powerful tv

Me! Absolutely fantastic TV and so fecking annoying to think that 9/11 could have been prevented.

So sad that John O’Neill went on to work in the Twin Towers 3 weeks before the attack.

Isthebigwomanhere · 28/06/2019 23:34

Absolutely. If only communication had been open between agencies.
I thought the last few minutes of tonight's episode were just perfectly done.

I've been recording this, but didn't save the first two episodes.

Will I understand it without them, or must I wrestle with the crappy catch-up thing that doesn't like my shonky broadband?

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 23:37

I watched it on Amazon Prime so finished it a while ago. I did think that the last ep was very very good and very very sad. The original footage used was very thought provoking.

If I had lost anyone in the attack I would be bloody livid (understatement) having seen this. What a fucking shambles.

Isthebigwomanhere · 28/06/2019 23:37

You should be ok without them

Think I'm definitely going to give the book a read

Perking, Do you have Amazon Prime? If not then it’s not the end of the world, it’s a time linear programme so you won’t miss too much,

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 23:43

The one thing that I wasn’t keen on was Jeff Bridges bare arse shagging on my screen every episode 😂

PerkingFaintly · 28/06/2019 23:43

Ah, no Prime here. But it sounds like I'll manage without.

Thanks, I've been umming and ahhing about whether to invest the time.

Isthebigwomanhere · 28/06/2019 23:45

@PerkingFaintly it's worth it

Outstanding series. Really intelligent. I'm surprised it didn't get more press coverage.

I've got it recorded so I can binge-watch again and think I might get the book.

RezCowgirl · 29/06/2019 00:09

It doesn't really show the US in a good light so I'm not surprised it hasn't been promoted more. The book was equally washed over.

Winenotttea · 29/06/2019 00:13

I’d recommend that anyone watch it, it was a real eye opener for me as to how the Americans dealt with early terrorist attacks and threats.

The actor playing Ali Soufan is also verrrry pleasing on the eye....

RubberTreePlant · 29/06/2019 00:33

Yes. Fabulous. British female screenwriter did the adaptation.

FolukeSAdes · 29/06/2019 07:27

I loved this programme and cried when I saw this programme; it will forever be in my ❤️And the question raised was “ where were you when 9/11 happened” Thank BBC iPlayer for showing this..

ScottishDiblet · 29/06/2019 07:30

Yes. We are watching it. (Not finished yet - I think we have 2 episodes left). It absolutely breaks my heart. It is a whole generation’s “where were you when” moment.

buggerthebotox · 29/06/2019 12:01

Loved it. Book was good too.

My only gripe was that it concentrated too much on O'Neill's sex life. Gratuitous imho.

TinyCheese · 30/06/2019 09:11

Great piece of television! So incredibly sad and thought provoking... I wonder how different the world would be today if the attacks were stopped! I wish there were more intelligent programs like this.

mizu · 30/06/2019 12:09

Have just watched the last part today. Amazing, such good TV. The actor playing Ali was indeed lovely looking wasn't he Grin.

What happened then to the lady with the long red hair who hid the two files in with others in that taped up box?

TinyCheese · 30/06/2019 12:52

Mizu, in the last episode they showed her testifying in the enquiry without showing her face because she had been moved to operational duties, she lied saying that she personally passed the files to the FBI. In reality, her character did not exist, but was a blend of several people from the Alec station.

mizu · 30/06/2019 13:14

Thanks tiny cheese I just wondered if she was punished, was anyone held to account?

ilovetrees30 · 30/06/2019 13:22

I binge watched it in two days. An absolutely incredible series covering such a horrific incident. I was only 14 at the time the attack happened so it was eye opening learning about the history of the lead up to the attack.

TinyCheese · 30/06/2019 14:05

I don't think anyone was punished or held to account, sadly.
After watching this, I want to know more.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 30/06/2019 14:13

I can’t believe no one was held to account for this, 9/11 would never have happened if the CIA had swallowed their massive ego and passed the information on, don’t know how they sleep at night., Condolezza Rice did not shine herself in glory either. Fabulous series though I agree don’t know why there were so many sex scenes.

Leakinglikeacolander · 01/07/2019 18:20

Have been watching this, must admit to going slightly wobbly at the knees when the actor playing Ali Soufan started going all Khalil Gibrahn with his girlfriend.Blush
