We're on holiday in July to Stoke Gabriel in Devon and just wondered if you had any local hints and tips on where to go, what to do, good places to eat etc? Thanks!

It's near Paignton, the zoo is great and there's a water park too. Restaurants aplenty in Paignton and Torquay. Brixham is pretty. The "round robin" of steam train to Dartmouth and boat back to Paignton is good if you like trains

Also the boat from Totnes down to Dartmouth is really pretty and there are some excellent fish and chip places in Dartmouth.

Salcombe is lovely. Your DC would enjoy a trip to Cranch's sweet shop. Get a crabbing line and fish from the pontoons and jetties. Take the ferry across to the other side of the estuary where the best beaches are.

It might be a little young for her but we love pennywell farm

Buckfastleigh has a butterfly house, otter sanctuary AND steam trains.
You are really close to Broadsands beach and Goodrington Sands. Other side of the Dart is Blackpool Sands (not sandy but supposedly one of the best beaches in the country) and further round Salcombe.
Woodlands theme park, Paignton zoo, Dartmouth, Babbacombe model village, Cockington Court crafts, Kent’s Cavern prehistoric caves.

Another vote for Woodlands. If hot, splashdown water park at Paignton is fun.
