If you had to choose a fastening?

Warning! This is hypothetical!

Imagine that humans have upset the God Of Fastenings with our frequent swearing at zips sticking and when the drawstring knot comes undone and the end disappears into the material. She is very angry with us all and tells us that we are now only allowed one type of fastening for EVERYTHING, but we are allowed to choose which one. What would your choice be? (It wouldn't be totally down to you. I assume there would be a referendum.)

Zips? Buttons? Velcro? Poppers? Laces? Hook & Eyes? Toggles? Buckles? Other?

But zips often unzip. That's why there's so often an additional fastening such as a button.

Zips for me

BusterTheBulldog · 27/06/2019 23:32

Velcro for sure. Adjustable too!

Correctly made zips don't unzip - they have a little tag that stops them when you fold down the grabby bit. Dresses often have stupidly made zips without, but that's not the zip's fault.

I'm going to throw gaffer tape into the ring. If that's not on, buttons just edges out laces. Poppers would be absolutely the best if only they were of variable strength.

Buttons have more style options I suppose.

Hook and eye. Slightly annoying but useful for many things and leaves a clean line. Can be used for pants, tops, bras, shoes. Not gendered.

Imagine jeans with just zips... they'd unzip whenever you were open

Bloated* not open
