Neighbours tree blocking Sky signal

First time poster, hello wise people of MN.

My neighbours have a large tree in their garden which whilst it is in full leaf is blocking the signal to my Sky dish. It's even worse when its windy, and today I can't get a signal at all.

I've asked Sky about moving my dish but theres nowhere else it can go and it has to point in that particular direction.

Neighbours house is a council owned one, and I'm wondering if I can apply to the council to get this tree trimmed? I don't think my neighbour should have to pay for this seeing as we want it done, and she didn't plant the tree in the first place. Apparently theres some covenant that states planting of large trees was prohibited in the gardens on our street but clearly someone has ignored that at some point.

Do you think the council would agree to chop it?

The tree probably has more rights.

strongswans · 27/06/2019 17:31

^ as above, a tree trumps your 'needs' for sky tv.

MoltonSilver · 27/06/2019 17:33

Ask the neighbour if they mind it being pruned a bit if you pay for it.

We have a 12th century church blocking our satellite dish, and the house cannot have a dish attached, and the dish must not be visible from the road....shall I ask for the church to be moved? We stream TV instead.

@MoltonSilver "Ask the neighbour if they mind it being pruned a bit if you pay for it."

My point is that it may not be possible. If it has a TPO it can't be pruned!

You're brave, after all the newt action today!!!

What sort of tree is it?

BogglesGoggles · 27/06/2019 18:02

Maybe it’s a sign from god...

Samcro · 27/06/2019 18:07

We couldn't get sky because of the massive tree behind our house.
Got virgin instead.

scaryteacher · 27/06/2019 18:07

Boggles As an atheist, I doubt that!! We could get German TV on Freesat, but we are Brits. We ended up using an expat streaming service, which is very good. I will miss it when we move home this year. I'm way ahead on NCIS.

IME of this problem the council do not minimise trees for satellite dishes. Sky came round and moved mine to the top of the house and angled it so it was unlikely to happen again and fingers crossed - it’s not been a problem since.

Try telling God that.

The seed probably fell off a pigeons leg or got blown by a wind that started in Africa.

And some twat from the council thinks they can hold back the tide.
