Going to a spa by myself?

TheCatThatDanced · 27/06/2019 16:48

I have done this before but felt like Billy No Mates.

I need a spa day. The Sanctuary used to be great for alone time as a female. All friends/relatives seem to be busy or have childcare issues. I'd do it during week so DC don't miss out on my company (they'd be at school).

can i go by myself? would prefer a friend to chat to.

Of course you can. Is there no one you could ask if you fancy chatting to someone?

RunningKatie · 27/06/2019 17:20

I've done it at Champneys before and enjoyed the peace! Do it Grin

bassackwards · 27/06/2019 17:21

I go to the spa all the time by myself... it would never occur to me to feel odd about it. It's a lovely way to relax, do things at your own pace, catch up on your reading, have a little nap. Go for it Smile

I would go alone specifically so I wouldn't have to talk to people.

youngestisapsycho · 27/06/2019 17:34

I would def go alone!

QuilliamCakespeare · 27/06/2019 17:37

I'd definitely do it. Take a book, have a nap. Bliss!

mnahmnah · 27/06/2019 17:38

I always go by myself. It’s the only way I can totally switch off

Wingingit9212 · 27/06/2019 17:41

Going alone sounds like the perfect scenario! Get yourself a treatment, take a book and enjoy the peace!

cardibach · 27/06/2019 17:45

I used to go for whole weekends by myself, never mind a day (only don’t now because they seem to have shot up in price)! If being alone makes you feel like ‘Billy No Mates’ it suggests you aren’t really comfortable alone, though. You could work on this by going for regular solo spa days. Result.

TheBossOfMe · 27/06/2019 17:49

I do it all the time. The only thing to specify to the spa is that you don't want to lunch with the other "singles" and would prefer your own table.

Lindy2 · 27/06/2019 17:51

I prefer to go to a spa alone. I can completely relax and do exactly as I please.

Jojo19834 · 27/06/2019 17:52

At a spa for a few days by myself and like others, find it a really great way to switch off. Had a stressful work year and this has been perfect. I sometimes come with friends, other times alone. Both are great! Do it!

cubed123 · 27/06/2019 17:53

I go all the time by myself, nice and relaxing that way. Go and enjoy yourself

BendydickCuminsnatch · 27/06/2019 18:01

I’ve done it and did feel like a bit of an oddball. It’s weird because I LOVE being by myself and doing my own thing, but feel lonely very easily. Was meant to go with a friend who had to cancel. It was nice although I had to eat in the restaurant alone which was sad. Enjoyed the evening watching telly and night alone!
Went again when friend could make it and was worried she’d talk my ear off but actually it was equally lovely.

Hortuslover · 27/06/2019 18:02

I’ve done a spa day by myself before and loved it. Go for it.

Iwantacookie · 27/06/2019 18:09

I was looking last night at hotels with spas. Might just forget to book dp in the room with me Wink

DuchessofManchester · 27/06/2019 18:46

I've done it before and I loved it. Take good books and magazines and just chill. Bliss.... if you really don't want to go alone im more than happy to tag along!!

TheRLodger · 27/06/2019 18:47

I’ve been to a spa on myself before. Loved it, made me feel even more relaxed

Thanks all for the reassuring comments - been to Bath Thermae Spa on my own and felt a bit of an oddball - went to the Landmark spa I think (in the hotel by Marylebone station) and bloody loved that - place was empty so didn't feel so Billy No Mates! The Bath Thermae Spa - there were loads of happy smiling people there so felt a bit out of place.

DH isn't really into spas, he will go if forced but can't see the point...and he's not that relaxing either!

Update - a good friend of mine has agreed to come - it's a Hilton Bankside Spa deal if anyone is interested.
