So.....I pissed myself

So...a group of colleagues and I today did a 'beer run'. Essentially a pub crawl, here in Asia we did a 2 kms run where we drank beer, ran a bit, drank more beer, ran more until the end Only, somehow I found myself covered in wee. How is this? I am fit. I regularly run 5 kms and this was only 2kms. I have however had 3 natural births, Never have I had an issue with incontinence before - so what's happening here?!

Really?

mouldyhousemouldylife · 27/06/2019 13:24

Beer and running doesn't sound like a good combo...

AfterSchoolWorry · 27/06/2019 13:25

Maybe you're sweating beer?

It really wasn't sweating beer. Definitely a downstairs only situation.

Nobody here can answer your question can they? Not really. We aren't medics.

It's stress incontinence probably - see your doctor

cheesemumma · 27/06/2019 13:39

God drunk running after a beer binge after 3 kids. I am not surprised you pissed yourself. My sis has the same. Totally fit etc runs but after 2nd child she had major piss yourself issues when running if it happens again ask a doctor. They may help.

TheBossOfMe · 27/06/2019 13:40

How old are you, OP?

SkintAsASkintThing · 27/06/2019 13:42

I once pissed on my doorstep.

I wasn't even drunk 💁

TheBossOfMe · 27/06/2019 13:42

Sorry, not asking in a judgemental way, but it could be linked to menopause if you're in the right age range. Or potentially could be a sign of issues such as prolapse, fibroids, etc. If it's a new thing, definitely see if it happens when you run when sober, and if it does, consult a doctor.

My bladder seems to react v badly to alcohol as I get older. I need to pee with staggering frequency even after 1 glass of wine.

SkintAsASkintThing · 27/06/2019 13:44

But it in your case it sounds to me like the volume of liquid , plus alcohol making everything a bit slower, plus the stress of running, plus the impact of 3 kids on your va jay jay equals the reason you pissed yourself.

Rickytickytembo · 27/06/2019 13:53

I'm 41 so unlikely to be menopause? No other menopausal symptoms. I'd only had two beers before running when realised I had pissed myself. Really awful/scary realisation.

Well running on hard surfaces for that long with beers inside me would certainly do that to me and im only 30 and have no kids so...really not a big deal. Unless it was proper gushing down your leg xD

TheBossOfMe · 27/06/2019 13:57

Ok if it was that little alcohol, I'd definitely go see your doctor. 41 isn't too early for perimenopausal symptoms, BTW.

Welder · 27/06/2019 14:06

If you regularly run and this is the first time it's happened surely it's just the volume of liquid, perhaps combined with the fact that it's alcohol.

Do you drink 2 pints of water mid run? Probably not.

BusterTheBulldog · 27/06/2019 14:07

I’ve been known to wee w but when running and no kids. For me it’s when I’ve had too much liquid. So if the run is later in day or I have a long journey to get there where I’ll nervously drink water then a bit of wee leaks out! It also happened to my husband this week too. I think it’s mainly too much liquid and then running.

MysweetAudrina · 27/06/2019 14:10

I went to a trampoline park with my kids recently. Gave myself a dose of cystitis from all the wee coming out and going back in again every time I jumped.

Rickytickytembo · 27/06/2019 14:15

Thanks BustertheBulldog, yes I'm hoping too much liquid + running is the culprit. I often skip at the gym with no adverse consequences so was really surprised by this! Thanks all for the advice.
