My cleaner, my expectations ...

... she started so well ! Did lots of little extras. Just feels like every week now that, although she's still doing her hours, she's just doing the minimum. Dust on bathroom heater, smeared mirrors, doors not wiped down. It's a shame as I really want someone regular rather than swapping cleaners every-time. Do I write a list of what needs to be done in every room or is it inevitable that standards slip once they get used to coming ? I pay £13 an hour and she's getting a lot of hours at ours so I don't feel I'm being unfair.

Id have an open and honest conversation with her. Just say you feel like her work isn't as thorough as it was when she started, you need things to change back to hire they were (give examples of things she's missed) and see what she says and does. If things don't change then she can't be surprised when you have to replace her.

I had same experience. Kept changing cleaner. They start ok and slack off, doesn't seem to make a difference what you pay either.

Gave up in the end and we share it out

We found this too. It wasn’t worth it anymore as the house was never cleaned to a decent standard.

We have also tried various cleaners. Tried companies and individuals. All the same, fine to start then started missing things or doing the minimum. We tried lists, tried asking more specifically, tried 'having a chat' (this led to one just not coming back!'.
We decided our standards were too high and gave up.
We just do what we can each week and i do a deep clean each school holiday (im a teacher!)
Oh, we also got a robot hoover! Amazing!

We had this too. I asked if she needed more time to complete what we needed doing. She said no. Got better for a short time, then minimum started again (ie, wipe the hob but not pick up the rings to clean under or clean the rings nor anything that might have gotten on the racks, not clean the floor under the fridge doors).

I now use a cleaning service. Three to four ladies come at once and the house is fabulous. It’s been this way for over a year and a half. I think it’s bevsuse each one has a set area to do so does that area well.
