Just been called a tax dodger!

My colleague just called me a tax dodger and technically he was right.

I have size 3 feet and buy children's footwear because it is cheaper. The reason it is cheaper is children's shoes don't attract VAT.

Please tell me I am not the only white collar criminal among us?

No wonder the economy is fucked Angry you do know that by doing this you are causing genuine childrens feet to be deprived of cheaper shoes?
(I think it works like that)

WhereForArtThouBray · 26/06/2019 09:55

I am very contrite and shall only buy super expensive designer adult shoes from now on to make up for it?

I haven’t paid for water since 2008. They’ve never sent me a bill and thus I’ve never paid one. I enquired once and they couldn’t find a record of my flat (I am in the fifth floor of a block so I can only imagine they believe there to be a gaping void between floors four and six) and said they’d get back to me and never did.

Does this make me a criminal or just an opportunist?

S1naidSucks · 26/06/2019 09:58

That’s hilarious. I take it he was joking, OP?

I’m self employed and the vast majority of my clients pay me in cash. The number of my own clients that assume I don’t pay tax is astounding!

anonforthespies43267 · 26/06/2019 09:59

@ComtesseDeSpair I’m not sure what it makes you but it makes me bloody jealous lol

rslsys · 26/06/2019 09:59

Market trader of my acquaintance avoided VAT for years by claiming the underwear he sold was for obese children!

Pipandmum · 26/06/2019 10:00

I’ve been paying your tax for you as my son has been wearing adult sized clothes since he was 11.

WhereForArtThouBray · 26/06/2019 10:00

I hope he was joking, I assume I am not about to be arrested on the junior aisle of JD Sports but people are strange sometimes!

Thanks @Pipandmum, the world is in balance once again.

I buy kids shoes too! Actually it's because they fit better and I prefer the style

Bananalanacake · 26/06/2019 10:03

you are avoiding tax if you don't smoke. as i was told by someone at work who works in tax.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 26/06/2019 10:07

I’ve been avoiding shoe tax for years! However it’s mitigated by DD1 having size 8 feet since she was 12😉

Mumof1andacat · 26/06/2019 10:11

I'm a size 4 and buy kids trainers.its cheaper. It will make up for my son going in to adult sizes when hes still a kid. Hes 6 and is a size 1. No doubt by aged 10, he'll be in adult sizes...

Squirrel26 · 26/06/2019 10:13

I buy children’s shoes too. Sometimes I even buy children’s socks, gloves and T-shirts.

Sorry.

Squirrel26 · 26/06/2019 10:14

Oh, and pants. M&S age 12-13 multipack black pants.

Sorry about that too.

avalanching · 26/06/2019 10:16

I love having small feet for this reason, my life changed the day I found out this information :D

WhereForArtThouBray · 26/06/2019 10:25

Tax dodgers unite!

DS is 14 and still in a size 5 so I haven't had to pay shoe tax ever so far. Long may it continue.

FadedRed · 26/06/2019 10:37

How dare you continue walking around on your child sized feet! You should be buying adult size shoes and stuffing them with paper.

daisyboocantoo · 26/06/2019 10:40

I kinda wanna join this club but have nothing to contribute

Dowser · 26/06/2019 10:43

For a couple of years our milkman kept leaving us bottles of milk and rarely asking for the money.
It got so embarrassing we cancelled the milk.

WhereForArtThouBray · 26/06/2019 10:49

I could stuff them with M & S Tax free child size underwear that the poster above keeps buying.

I wish my milkman would stop asking for money. He costs a fortune!

Consider it a disability benefit.

StillMedusa · 26/06/2019 10:50

My DD2 is 25 with size 4 feet and more pairs of doc Martens than anyone needs to own. Always buys kids ones. Should I disown her?!

For that matter so does my mother!!!!!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 26/06/2019 10:55

My sister is 32 soon and can wear childrens clothes from Next Sad

TremblingFanjo · 26/06/2019 11:00

My sister is 32 soon and can wear childrens clothes from Next my boss was similarly sized and used to buy children's clothes - it backfired once when she realised the trousers she was wearing at work, mid-meeting, had embroidery or something v obviously aimed at kids on them.
