Any views on the quality of M&S sofas

I have an M&S sofa that is 20 yrs old that is still going strong. Reviews suggest the ones made now aren’t as comfortable or well made. Anyone bought one recently that is prepared to comment. They gave a fantastic sale on this week!

I’ve had a pair for about 6 years and it’s still in really good condition. Quite irritating as I have really gone off them..

We had one which proved to be very uncomfortable as the seat cushions would slip forwards. We swapped for an ikea sofa after a couple of years. Friends had a different model (abbey I think) which is still going strong.

I’ve a Nantucket corner sofa and it’s awful, the seats sink right into the frame, you feel half sat on the floor and it’s just generally poor quality. The only bonus is I now don’t care about it getting stained!

Mine went shabby quickly. Didn't go the distance. Had to replace.

MoltonSilver · 27/06/2019 17:38

Mine is very comfortable but the fabric under the seats is slippy, causing the cushions to slide forward. Also, the stitching at the seams on the cushions came apart in a couple of spots. Its an Abbey corner chaise. I wouldn't buy from them again.

I bought some M&S sofas with the money left to me by my Grandad in 1990. They ended up with my Mum and they have only just collapsed. She did have them recovered though but that was more due to cats than anything else.

Because of this I have entertained the notion that M&S sofas are good quality so watching with interest . . .

Just spent £2000 on a large M&S sofa and two armchairs and I love them!

Unfortunately I don't have anything to compare them with because I’ve never had a brand new sofa before (I’m 58) Grin

Mine are great, bought 4 years ago

DilysMoon · 27/06/2019 18:50

We've had the Nantucket corner and Copenhagen armchair for 18 months and have no problems, comfy and has kept its shape etc. Had a Next one prior to that which didn't last long or wear well and IKEA before that again didn't last.

ProfessorofPerspective · 27/06/2019 18:52

Mine aren't recent; they must be getting on for 20 years old too - and still just as comfy, though the seat cushions are getting a little tattered now.

seven201 · 27/06/2019 19:14

I'm sitting on a two year old sofa now. My one previous to that lasted 8 years - it was still comfy but had faded and looked firstly on the arms. I'd buy another M&S sofa.
