DS has been feeling ill last few days and just showed me this. We live in the middle of a large city and he's only played in the garden.

Haven't seen a tick

Quite possibly. If he’s feeling ill as well it’s definitely worth getting him seen. Hope he feels better soon.

Puppo · 26/06/2019 08:17

Also can I get an appointment after school or does it need seeing this morning?

I’d get him seen this morning as he’s feeling ill.

Puppo · 26/06/2019 08:18

Take him to the Doctors asap!
?He may feel better now, but then be ill in a few days/weeks. And if its Lymes then it has a much better chance if treated early. If untreated it can lead to very long term problems.
There are deer in cities, my cats pick up ticks from time to time - a neighbourhood cat/dog/fox could have picked one up and brought it to your garden.

TheRedBarrows · 26/06/2019 08:37

Take him this morning!

Inkanta · 26/06/2019 08:43

It looks like it could also be ringworm - a fungal infection. Yes needs a diagnosis doesn't it.

Ellabella989 · 26/06/2019 08:44

Looks like ringworm to me

DragonTrainer3 · 26/06/2019 08:59

I look for dermatophytes (the cause of ring worm) in a lab, and that doesn't look like ringworm. Ringworm (some) starts off as a dot in the center and forms a clear space in the middle as it heals, while the outer pink edges spread out. The skin here looks too intact. It also wouldn't make him feel ill, just itchy.

I'd get him checked out for Lyme, it does look a bit like pictures I've seen of the 'bull's eye' you get from that, and you can get it in cities too if you're near a park (especially a deer park).

Sicario · 26/06/2019 09:02

Mosquito bite? Lots of them around.

DragonTrainer3 · 26/06/2019 09:04

Truth is though, you should go to your GP to get it checked out properly - without blood tests/culture results it can be difficult to tell what he's got, especially from a photo.

GloGirl · 26/06/2019 09:05

Doesnt look like ringworm which is often rough and bumpy. Call into a pharmacist if you cant see the doc they will point you in the best direction.

summerofresistance · 26/06/2019 09:08

I agree It's not like ring worm. Any chance of lyme' s disease don't mess about, get him seen ASAP.

Let us know how you get on OP.

MrsLupin · 26/06/2019 09:08

I'd definitely get it checked by a doctor, very high success rate with antibiotics when it's spotted early on. Ticks that carry lymes can be smaller than a sesame seed so it's not unusual to not have seen one.

Best of luck

Katisha · 26/06/2019 09:14

Ive had this. I hadnt seen a tick either but it was lymes. I needed two courses of antibiotics. Go sooner rather than later. I actually didnt feel ill till about two weeks later.

Puppo · 26/06/2019 11:15

Went to the GP who sent us to children's hospital.

DH is with him now there.

MollyButton · 26/06/2019 11:46

Thanks for the update - I hope he gets better soon. Flowers

MrsLupin · 26/06/2019 11:46

I hope he feels better soon Thanks

Puppo · 26/06/2019 12:44

They're giving him 3 weeks of strong antibiotics.

Said there's no way to really tell definitively but as a precaution he's to be treated for it.
