Are men mean to women they like?

I remember in school when a boy was picking on me, my art teacher getting a grip of him like grips we're going out of fashion. Props to her! But I also remember her rolling her eyes at him & saying "he probably fancies you, leave it with me".

Like I said, she fixed the problem but is it true in boys? And if so, is it a way that men behave to try to get attention?

No, I think they're mean to women they despise.

No. Why would they be?

Boys, yes. Actual adults, no.

FelixFelicis6 · 25/06/2019 20:32

If they’re twats, maybe.

MuthaFunka61 · 25/06/2019 20:32

Only if you knock back their advances then they can be nasty feckers

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 25/06/2019 20:34

Honestly, any male that indulges in that shit beyond the age of 7 needs swerving.

OP, answer is NO because adults aren’t shit to people they honestly like, only ones they have an issue with - period.

ForalltheSaints · 25/06/2019 20:36

That's not why Mr Johnson treats women like dirt, no.

SushiForAmateurs · 25/06/2019 20:37

Yes, possibly, but given they need to behave like that because they're an emotionally stunted fuckwit, I'd be giving them a massive swerve.

Serious red flag.

RosaWaiting · 25/06/2019 20:37

Who cares?
Keep away from mean people. Their “reasons” don’t matter.

Slightaggrandising · 25/06/2019 20:43

I'm not saying I have a mean person! Thanks for replies everyone. I just wondered if it was a "thing".

No. People are nice to people they like. I think you may be confused with attracted to. Men are horrible to women they are attracted to because they resent them for it.

BogglesGoggles · 25/06/2019 20:45

*men are often horrible

ErrolTheDragon · 25/06/2019 20:47

Men aren't mean to women they like; perhaps some of the nasty ones are mean to women they want to shag and control?

Slightaggrandising · 25/06/2019 20:48

Ah @bogglesgoggles you might have phrased it better than I did.

That's interesting re:resentment. Thank you.

It can be a thing with boys and occasionally with immature men but I haven’t seen anyone over the age of 30 act like it.

IABUQueen · 25/06/2019 20:49

I think boys are mean when the girl they like don’t give them the attention they want. Especially those boys who learnt from an early age that anger is the only emotion they can display and that being soft isn’t boyish...

But as they get older they hopefully learn than being mean gets them nowhere in life. And some just remain boys forever.

formerbabe · 25/06/2019 20:51

Some men are nasty to women who they fancy but knock them back...one minute they're trying to chat them up, then once they realise they're not getting anywhere, they start insulting the woman. That happens a lot.

@formerbabe is that negging? I read the term on here for the first time recently and wasn't sure.

I'll say again, I don't have a mean person in my life!! It's a general question.

@formerbabe is that negging?

Sorry, I don't know what that phrase means!

sonjadog · 25/06/2019 21:12

Boys sometimes behave that way. Generally they grow out of it by late teens (usually well before). Anyone older who behaves that way is a dick and should be avoid.
